Interviews: Age Of Fire
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band, Age Of Fire from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
When I was younger, I spent a lot of time studying religion and philosophy. One day I came across the
phrase “Age of Fire” referring to the end of times. It really resonated with me and of course, I thought it would be
a great name for a metal band \m/
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I grew up in the 80s when metal exploded. I remember when the Big 4 were new and also really got into
the shredders of the day. It was so inspirational. I practiced and learned tunes of the day but I started writing
stuff immediately. Writing music is my passion for sure, I absolutely love it and explore other genres as well but
I’m a metal head at heart.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
That’s actually a funny question. The current line up of Age of Fire played at different times in this
other band which is more modern Rap/R and B. Seriously, Dynamic joined that band when I had a schedule
conflict with that band and we hit it off immediately. Bill was introduced officially by the producer of our EP and
we were all like “Wait minute?” We’ve been jamming ever since.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Greg: Nevermore
Dynamic: Thin Lizzy
Bill: Rush
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life. So many things really. Current affairs, literature, and history seem to be the biggest influences at
the moment. At least lyrically, musically we pull from our influences. I’m a huge classical music fan so I get
inspired from things over the centuries as well. I always try to think out of the box and make music that is
engaging to play and to listen to.
6. Where was your last gig?
We just finished up playing a couple shows in Richmond Virginia and getting ready for a show this
coming weekend in Roanoke Virginia. Please check out social media pages, we have a lot of shows lining up
until the end of the year.
7. Where would you like to act?
Wacken of course. I think that’s that dream for me at least. Any of those big European festivals, Heavy
Montreal would be great as well. We just want to play in front of as many people as possible.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Playing on the same bill as Overkill would be great. But there are so many great bands out there right
now we’d love to play with. We are huge fans of the genre as well as musicians in it.
9. Whom not?
I’ll have to think on that. We are all artists and trying to get people to listen to our music. I’m an old
dog, hard to turn down work. It’s fun to play in front of people who might not be into your genre then get them to
dig it.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Absolutely, man I used to work myself into a fever. I tried hard not to fall into the “get hammered”
before the show rabbit hole. As far as tips go, practice helps a lot, experience, repetition but it’s also having the
confidence with those you share the stage with. I have no worries any night about Bill and Dynamic. They
always bring it to the stage.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
The Big 4, Iron Maiden, Savatage, Dio, Black Sabbath, Nevermore, older Nightwish, Van Halen,
Overkill, Testament, Exodus, King Diamond, so many.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I’ll try to keep this PG rated but mostly everyone has been very respectful. Nothing too crazy recently.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Love them!!!! Are you kidding? We love to hit the road and come across people who are into our
music. They are what makes it all worthwhile. The biggest high is when we’re playing on stage and connecting
with those in the audience. Nothing better.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s great! I love what you all are doing for the metal community.
15. Something to add?
