Interviews: CAVO

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band, CAVO from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We started the band as Hollow. Once we got a manager we figured there were several bands that beat us to the name. I think we tried for a few weeks to think up a new one and couldn’t. After hitting a dead end we thought of just looking into the name we had BUT in a different language. Cavo means something like “hollow places” in Latin. We all agreed we liked it and just went with it

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I have always thought Cavo is a band that has many influences and layers to its sound. We like to let the songs take us wherever direction they want to go even if they stretch out of the rock genre

3. Each band member's favorite band?

I’ll have to guess what I think for everyone else but for me (Chris) Red Hot Chilli Peppers) Andy, I’d say Gin Blossoms were a huge influence on him starting drums Casey would be a toss-up between Pearl Jam and Blue October Brian I’d say would be another toss-up between Def Leopard and Fishbone

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Many things give me inspiration but I’d have to say the people in my life and the amazing musicians a get to play with

5. Where was your last gig?

Cover gig with Casey. Covers or Cavo it’s always a blast to Casey. It’s been awesome to start to focus on releasing all the covers with Cavo. It’s something we’ve all wanted to do forever 

6. Whom would you like to feature with?

I’ve never thought of that but it would be really cool to hear a young band or artists take on one of our songs or be sampled

7. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

That’s a tough one! The answer is simple but not popular. Play a lot of shows. It’s really that easy. You just have to go through the bad show and keep going. Eventually, you’ll learn the pattern of your preshow anxiety and post-show calming and become more and more desensitized. It may never go away but will definitely become something you can reason with yourself about and not let ruin the day 

8. What bands have inspired you the most?

Too many to say but I’ll throw out some local stl bands that did big things and inspired a whole city of musicians. Stir-The Urge-Modern Day Zero(earlier Mesh) made me believe that a band from the Midwest could get attention and build an audience

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I really wish I had a great answer for this but guitar picks and autographs are about it

10. What do you think of your fans?

This one’s simple and we’ve always said it from day one. With no fans, there would be no band. The supporters for Cavo through all these years mean everything to us

11. What do you think of our site? 

Awesome!!! Looks like a killer place to find out about new music and read interviews from your favorite artists
