Interviews: EMBR

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Doom Metal band, EMBR from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It really just kinda happened. We thought of it years ago due to the fact a lot of our lyrics were about judgment,redemption, tribulations and forgiveness. Fire (EMBER) just seemed to fit. We later dropped the “E” EMBR for stylistic purposes and searchability on the web.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We originally set out to compose doom just because we loved the vibe and the sound. But as you will see on this latest release we are trying to break the mold a bit. The doom elements are still there but they are spread out.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we have all known each other for a very long time. Crystal and Eric are married and Mark has been a good friend since the early 2000’s. This is actually Mark and Eric’s 2nd band together.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That’s a tough one. We like too many bands to pick favorites. Some of our favorites we covered on our EPIdolatry so definitely check that out if you like 90’s grunge.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We really don’t have any inspiration per-se. We write music that we think sounds good. Sometimes it starts with a riff, sometimes a concept, sometimes a lyric or even an event. It’s hard to pinpoint anything specific. Really, if it gives us goosebumps we travel down that path to completion.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Huntsville, Alabama at a place called the CopperTop. One of our favorite spots, a great smaller venue.

7. Where would you like to perform?

We’re working to get on some more festivals. Right now that’s one of our goals. 

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We’ve never from stage fright. That said we can say – if you do suffer from it. Just be yourself, sometimes that’s the best thing .

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We refer you back to EP Idolatry. Each EMBR member picked a song to cover on that EP.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

One of the weirdest things a fan ever asked Crystal for was....A girl begged her to accept two slices of cheesecake that she made in a restaurant a couple blocks down from a venue we performed at. Then sheinsisted that Crystal try it in front of her...

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans. They are very supportive and down to earth. We really enjoy talking with them after shows.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very nice, intuitive. Easy to find content and laid out well.
