Interviews: Endeavour

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore band, Endeavour from the Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Gijs (vocalist) came up with it. He really liked the idea of a 'one-word' band name. He proposed the idea and everyone liked it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We were getting into heavier music around the age of fifteen. Bands, like Escape the Fate, Falling in Reverse, Asking Alexandria, Parkway Drive, and Slipknot, are what started our love for metal. Gijs and Anthony were making music together already (in a cover band) so it just made sense to start making heavy music.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Me and Anthony met at school at just four years old and have known each other since. Jan's parents are friends with Gijs' parents. They met before we were even born so they have known each other our whole lives I guess. Anthony, Gijs, and Jan met Rob while studying at the conservatory. It turned out he lived in the same village as Gijs and Anthony. Teun once showed up to one of our shows and had a blast in the moshpit. Later, when we needed a new drummer we chose him and he's been with us ever since.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Gijs: Sleep Token

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Gijs: We really love the whole process. It feels amazing to create something new from your own imagination. Obviously the people that like our music also inspire us to keep doing this, but the biggest motivation is always inside ourselves. ''To me, there's nothing more fun than creating as much new music as I can'' - Anthony ''The process from writing vocals for a new song in Anthony's little home studio, to recording it, to releasing it and playing it live is very rewarding to me.'' 

6. Where was your last gig?

Kroepoekfabriek, Vlaardingen, The Netherlands.

7. Where would you like to play?

Any venue where we've seen bands we love play would be nice. We'd love to play more and bigger festivals in the future.

8. Who would you like to support?

Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Northlane, Thornhill, Loathe, Spiritbox, While She Sleeps,...

9. Who not?

There isn't really a Metal band that we'd actively choose to not support.

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Gijs: ''Yeah, still do sometimes actually. Fear of failure is a thing I still struggle with and I feel like I'm not reaching my full potential on stage because of that.''

Sleep Token, Northlane, Architects, Loathe, Thornhill, Bad Omens

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To scream Happy Birthday in a voice message
