Interviews: Lieder Distortion
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Opera Rock artist, Lieder Distortion. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We play opera arias and classical music by classical composers such as Mozart, Schubert, Vivaldi, etc.
Classic songs from the saloons of the 19th century are sometimes called Lieder and when we play them in
the set of a rock band, it also becomes distorted. It doesn't get more imaginative than that...
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I started by playing in a rock band, then I started taking singing lessons and was going to become an
opera singer. I got into the Academy of Opera but realized that it wasn't really what I wanted to do, so I
quit. After that, I realized that I should combine the music styles simply...
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, some of us, but I met the record company and the producers later.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Queen, Myrkur, Tarja Turunen, Broder Daniel
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We mostly arrange old classical music. Sometimes we put different parts together and sometimes we play
as they were originally written, but we always have to scale down the harmonies to chords that can be
held for a longer time and arrange the instrument. It's very time-consuming but feels meaningful somehow.
We also have an instrumental own song on the album that will be released this fall. It is called Intermezzo
and is like a break in the middle of the record.
6. Where was your last gig?
Last week but it wasn't with Lieder Distortion. I was entertaining a bunch at a party.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Sweden Rock
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
Lieder Distortion
9. Whom not?
Don ́t know
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not so much but had a longer back. Trust that the body is better than the brain at solving the task. Stop
thinking and just do... Easier said than done but still.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Broder Daniel, Tarja Turunen, and classical composers. Therion also.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Trying to sell shampoo right after a gig.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Love them!
14. What do you think of our site?
I like it, you have a solid division of genres clearly and well on the page. I think that's brilliant in these
times when the range is so huge.
15. Something to add?
