Interviews: Michael Webster

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock artist, Michael Webster from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

My artist name is just my own name! A lot of people I know go by alter-egos but it’s a reflection of myself so I thought it best to go for it haha.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

I’ve always loved alternative rock, indie, and folk music - it’s a huge inspiration for me.

3. Your favorite band? 

I think my favorite band would probably be Nirvana, just unadulterated fun and chaos. Great to see!

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

I often get inspired by the situations and surroundings that I find myself in - a lot of my songs are very personal - I often just find it flows out when I sit down to write.

5. Where was your last gig?

I last played at the Eagle Inn in Salford, a lovely intimate venue - really nice to play at.

6. Where would you like to perform?

I’d love to get some more intimate gigs, I really love a good connection with an audience - venues like The Ferret in Preston, and the Leadmill in Sheffield are great for that. 

7. Whom would you like to perform with?

I’d love to play with Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers. I loved their collaboration and I think they’d just be great to hang out with! 

8. Whom not? 

A lot of artists. Egos are fragile!

9. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

At the start, I did a fair bit - but I play now 3-4 times a week and it’s just natural for me now!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

I think realistically the biggest inspiration would be Neil Young & Crazy Horse - their chemistry, the songwriting ability, the fact that they can jam for hours... it’s just great.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Someone asked for a signed copy of a CD. A bit crazy!

12. What do you think of your fans? 

Super grateful for their support.
