Interviews: Post Luctum
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal/Doom Metal artist, Post Luctum from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The name is Post Luctum came from an old music project that I was going to start in 2010 that was called Mourning After the End. I never really stuck with that name so I figured I could shorten it, put it in Latin, and it came out as Post Luctum.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I've always been drawn to the more somber side of music, especially metal. I think I just connect with it more overall.
3. Your favorite bands?
I'd say my favorite bands are Paradise Lost, Swallow the Sun, Insomnium, Ghost Brigade, Fit For An Autopsy, and Cult of Luna.
4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I honestly don't know. I've always thought musicians were just the coolest people when I was growing up and never cared for the idea of being in a cover band (not against doing covers though). It's amazing that people can just create this type of media, and tell a story through sound of their own. And once you can write music of your own, it almost becomes a compulsive feeling of just wanting to do it.
5. Where was your last gig?
Sadly, Post Luctum hasn't had any gigs. But maybe one day there will be other members and that could be a possibility.
6. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere that a small club of venue. I think those types of shows are the most fun!
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
I think it would be awesome to have a song with Mikko Kotamaki from Swallow the Sun or Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis on vocals!
8. Whom not?
Probably most pop artists or country singers
9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I think I've been a little nervous on stage before with previous bands that I've been in. I usually just focus on the music and play what you're comfortable with and then. That way it translates well playing live and you can really put on a show once you're comfortable.
10. What bands have inspired you the most?
I think the bands that have inspired me the most is Paradise Lost, Nine Inch Nails, and Amorphis. Nine Inch Nails was the first artist that really drew me into the harder and darker type of music. The album "Tuonela" by Amorphis was the first album outside of the alternative metal scene that steered me down the path to melodic/proggy metal. And then I came on board with Paradise Lost when "Symbol of Life" came out and then I went backward through their discography and got into the more doomy stuff from there.
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I honestly don't get too many requests to give things from fans. I only ever get kind words and chatting from them through messages
12. What do you think of your fans?
I think the world of them! I get a lot of very kind words and a ton of support from them! They're the most understanding and respectful people ever!
13. What do you think of our site?
Breathing the Core is a really great place to find some great underground and up-and-coming acts! And on top of that, a very well-rounded and eclectic selection of bands/artists on there! Some great top-notch stuff on here!
14. Something to add?
Thank you for the opportunity to include me on Breathing the Core and for taking the time for the interview!
