Interviews: Princess Alice Manor

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Electrocore solo artist, Princess Alice Manor from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the artist on her FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Please tell us about the name Princess Alice Manor….

People ask me why a Princess... Because I’m a royal pain in the a**!!!

Ha, ha! But on a serious note, Alice Manor is my legal name and Alice came from my love of the original “Alice in Wonderland” novel Manor I’ve always felt is a symbol of power which I like to promote in my works!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love both Electronic Music & Metalcore and wanted to combine both of them together. I started off with Nu-Metal & Industrial Metal but after a while, I realized that I wanted something people could dance & rave to as well. That’s when I came across the Electronicore Genre and have been sold on it ever since!

3. Does anybody else play on the record or live?

During this EP I got to work with a couple of my best friends which made the experience even better. Vesper Morningstar helped me record and mix the EP as well as used their amazing guitar skills. I also got Tom West of Darko on the EP who lent his amazing vocals to the title track “Outer Demons” He brought his amazing Hardcore Vocals and Corey Taylor influences into it as well!

4. Who is your favorite band?

Despite my Heavy Influences Placebo has always been a huge love of mine. Brian Molko really helped me discover who I am and every time I listen to them they bring back amazing memories!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly my own experiences. As a Trans Women I go through a lot of experiences and I like to take them and put them into songs to help inspire others. The track “Fear” off the upcoming EP was actually based off of how my parents were abusive to my transition. It’s been on my mind for years and it feels like a weight off my shoulders to finally share it and put it into words.

6. Where was your last gig?

My Last Headliner was at The Pipeline where I hosted my own festival called “TRANS-mit” It was a showcase of LGBTQ Talent raising money for Trans Charities. It was such a good cause and having the local community there was amazing! We’re looking to host it again this year even BIGGER and BETTER than before with some more regional talent as well!

7. Where would you like to play?

I think the Ultimate Gig I could happily retire after would be at The Royal Albert Hall with a Full Live Orchestra. I love combining Orchestral Music & Metal together and to bring such a powerful performance would be amazing! Right now though, I would love to play a bunch of venues I grew up inspired by though. One of them being the New Cross Inn that I’m headlining December 7th!

8. Who would you like to support?

Electric Callboy or Enter Shikari would be amazing to support just so I can be part of the huge energy they bring to their shows!

9. Who not?

Kid Rock comes to mind lol or maybe I would just out of spite!

10. Have you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Booze... AND LOTS OF IT! Honestly though just take it slow, there’s no rush to get on stage, and prepare yourself as much as you can. Also, come up with your own Rituals! I play "The Vengabus” at my shows right before because it releases all the tension and gets everyone (including myself) hyped as hell!!!

11. What bands and artists have inspired you the most?

Electric Callboy has really been a big influence over the last few years along with Enter Shikari & The Prodigy. I also love acts like Lordi, Alice Cooper & Rammstein because of their amazing stage shows that I’ve incorporated my own brand of Shock Rock into!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To Spank Them... I was playing in a somewhat kinky place though to be fair!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Do metal Bands have fans?

I love them though! It’s always good to see people with similar interests especially those of the trans community who aren’t always that common in the scene.

14. What do you think of our site?

I’m glad to see a website that specializes in The Core & Metal Scene! As you’re probably aware it’s getting increasingly harder for bands to promote their music especially with Social Media intentionally restricting it. I’m glad outlets like yours are giving them a platform!

15. Something to add?

My New Single “Alive” is out May 17th from my Upcoming EP “Outer Demons” I’ve also started Streaming on Twitch Every Monday & Tuesday Evening to give Fans a bit of a Behind The Scenes Perspective of my upcoming works as well as get to know them more including a New Podcast/ Talk Show! https://linktr.ee/princessalicemanor
