Interviews: Super Monster Party
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Videogame Metal band, Super Monster Party from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It was me adding the "Super" from Super Nintendo to "Monster Party" from the video game and I got Super Monster Party
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I love blending different types of Metal and Punk I grew up listening to as a kid. Adding the element of video games has made it unique and fun to write since it's something very dear to me.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I've known Emilio for close to 20 years. Fern, Andy, and Ben for a few years now.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Rei Sega - Misfits & Rhapsody
Andy - Iron Maiden and The Black Dalia Murder
Ben - Pain of Salvation & Pink Floyd
Fern - Paramore & PVRIS
Emilio - Nevermore & Alice in Chains
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
What inspires me is taking a video game that I grew up playing and imagine I'm writing a song for its Soundtrack. Usually from the perspective of the hero or villain.
6. Where was your last gig?
Too Many Games in Philadelphia
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
I'd love to do a feature with Herman Li. Love to pick his brain about his sound writing methods
8. Whom not?
I don't think I have someone I wouldn't mind collaborating with or featuring in a song.
9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?
Great question. When I was 15, I entered a high-school talent show with a band and nothing on stage was mic'ed. So long story short, the only thing the audience heard was my screaming into a mic for 4 mins. Kids laughed. But that just made me work harder.
10. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Evil, the singer of the band The Independents, gave me this piece of advice. The hardest shows are the ones where there are 1 or two people in the audience. But they can also be the most beneficial if make it a point to pick someone in the audience and lock eyes with them. If you can win over 1 person. You can win 1000
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Oh wow, that's a hard one. I'd say Misfits have always been my biggest inspiration. I also love bands like Rhapsody, Dragon Force, and Machine Head
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
One of my socks. I enjoy wearing colorful socks on stage and a fan asked if he could have my Skeletor sock.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think we have some of the most unique fans in the world because we have metal heads and punks who also love video games. So many levels to connect.
14. What do you think of our site?
Think the site is great and we love that you guys feature up-and-coming bands. It's a platform to connect with new fans.
15. Something to add?
Thank you for the interview and we hope to see everyone in the road soon!
