Behind The Artworks: Weep - Life In Shades Of Grey (2023)

I’ve always been a really big fan of artwork by Alfred Kubin. He was an artist from the early 20th century who definitely stands out to me as an innovator in the worlds of surrealism and horror iconography. One thing I find particularly compelling about his art is the way in which figures in his works contemplate their surrealist environments with an almost defeated acceptance. That acknowledgment and acceptance of the surreal and horrifying is core to my experience of struggling with mental health issues. That’s why I felt that this particular work of his was so well suited to the project.
