Interviews About Albums: SEBIA - Acceptance Of Reality (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Greek Hard Rock/Progressive Rock band SEBIA to ask some questions about their new album "Acceptance Of Reality". 

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Hello there. It is an LP record filled with 8 original songs written by us. We are talking about our first record named “Acceptance of Reality”. The songs included on this album are 1. Lockdown, 2. Get out of your heads, 3. Shipwreck, 4. Beyond this world, 5. Voices (also an official music video), 6. Ship Lost through the Mist (also a lyric music video), 7. Witch Hunt, 8. Acceptance of reality. Recordings started a year ago, in May 2022 at CFN Recording studio, with great cooperation with producer Dionisis Christodoulatos, along with master engineer Nasos Nomikos. With their knowledge and experience, our songs were taken to the next level. We are very happy with the result. Later on, Giannis Nakos created the artwork for our album, leaving us more than satisfied by creating a piece of fine art. Last but not least, John Kaimakamis played a great role in this by creating a Lyric video and a Music video for our first two releases.

It is very important to give credit to those who helped us achieve our goals. And our collaborators understood our expectations and turned it into reality.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

We believe that every music album has a story to tell, so do we. A story and a journey through the mind and conscience. A hard and rough trip through our deeds and regrets, facing ourselves. Till we see the light through the acceptance of reality. The only way to succeed in this life, from our point of view, is to accept what’s going on around you and keep going, surpassing obstacles and if you fall, find the strength to get up again. This is not an easy task. It is how we see things.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

We’re happy to share ideas with each other. There is not only one person that writes and composes songs in the band. This is the beauty of creation and inspiration. Shuffling ideas and combining styles results in a unique outcome.

(Leon) I write songs and lyrics, as Konstantinos and Marios do. But as I say, we have the Song Forger, Nikos.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Leon: Shipwreck. I love it!

Nick: Every song in this album has something unique to tell. I can’t easily choose among these 8 songs, but if you ask me, I‘d say Shipwreck too.

Konstantinos: That’s a difficult one. I would go with Voices. It is melodic, powerful, and easy to digest harmonically.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?If there is, what is it?

As mentioned before, the point is to overcome our failures and falls. Accept things as they are and try to become the best version of yourself. We ought to be happy with ourselves in order to be happy with our surroundings. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that each song has its own meaning. Different from each other at first glance, but if you think about it, they all end up at the same point; acceptance of reality.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

Leon: From Ship lost through the mist ~ My truth is burden in this grave~

Nick: From Beyond this world ~ Off to a magic journey, into the unknown~

Konstantinos: From Voices

“I was stranded, in some place away from here

And it started, with a whisper in my ear”

This is pretty much how all things start. With an inner voice.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Our songwriting is highly affected by literally anything we may perceive in our lives. It may be something simple, it may be a specific situation or something that happened, something we saw or heard. This is the way we all function. Inspiration hits the door without warning and you just happen to find yourself with an idea of a riff, or some lyrics, or even a whole concept for a new song.

For this album, we had great support from friends, family, and people who believed in us and in what we do, something that played a major role in making this album happen. We thank everyone individually. Each one of them is part of this achievement.
