Interviews: Around 7

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Punk Rock band, Around 7 from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We’d gone through a couple of names as we’re sure every band does when they’re starting out. Our original guitarist had said he’d be round for practice “Around 7” and it just stuck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It’s the same sort of music that we all grew up with and we feel it comes quite naturally to us in our songwriting.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ryan and Lachlan had previously been in a band together and Ryan and Chebs knew each other through the local skateboarding scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Ryan: Green Day & Biffy Clyro

Lachlan: Iron Maiden & Eluveitie

Chebs: Avenged Sevenfold & Dijon

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The emotions of dealing with everyday life, whether or not you’re coping with it. Sometimes you’ve just got to try and explain those feelings or vent in some way and we express that through our songs. Other times, we’ll be at a rehearsal and a banger of a track just pops up from jamming together.

6. Where was your last gig?

We recently played in Church, Dundee. It was a great turn out and the crowd was phenomenal. The venue was bouncing! We had a great night and can’t wait for the next show.

7. Where would you like to act?

We love playing anywhere and everywhere! As long as we manage to get one person on the dancefloor, loving life, we’ve done our job and we are happy. It’s more about the people than the location!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any other musician that we gel with that has the same drive and passion we have for music would be ace! Jaret Reddick would be top tier though.

9. Whom not?

Never say never. Unless there’s an extremely good reason to not collaborate with someone, there are always cards on the table.

10. Have any of you suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

With being in high school at the start of the bands career, we all remember stage fright all too well. We were all nervous as hell! Besides, some of us still have to visit the toilet before we get on stage! But all jokes aside, it is terrifying and we all suffer from it in different ways. The best thing for us is to try to use the fear as adrenaline. Find comfort in you band and in your crowd and go up and do what you love. It takes time but you’ll find different ways of dealing with it. Ultimately, we’d say play live as much as possible. You’ll start to get a lot more comfortable up there.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We all have so many different bands we listen to and styles that we play. There’s a massive pot of great bands. From Biffy Clyro to Madness and Green Day to Black Sabbath!

12. What’s the weirdest thing a fan has asked you for?

Probably being asked for a JPEG of our logo so that they could get it tattooed on their arm. Some commitment!

13. What do you think of your fans?

Every band says this but we have some of the best fans in the world. It’s always amazing to see familiar faces at our gigs! Especially at the shows further afield. And there’s nothing better than spotting someone sporting an A7 t-shirt in the street. And that tattoo, man…

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s amazing. Some great content to get stuck into and lost in for hours. Great to see so many band's contents in one place and to see a site supporting so many artists.
