Interviews: Ethereal Void

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band, Ethereal Void from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band formed under the temporary name Hollow Again, and we set out to find a name that had to do with void/abyss/whatever esoteric stuff. We wanted Disciples of the Void but it’s such a good name it was already taken. We went with Ethereal Void; it has a good ring to it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We feel there’s a lack of very straightforward death metal bands with a ton of groove. Typically you’ll find meandering progressive songs, but what we make is hard-hitting and to the point.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Logan and I knew each other. we added Nemesis later on, who we found on the internet.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Logan: Oceans of Slumber

Voiicide: Dimmu Borgir

Nemesis: Parasite Inc.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We just sorta do it, honestly. Our default state is creating music; it needs no external motivation.

6. Where was your last gig?

We don’t play shows, as we’re focused entirely on making comprehensive and compelling albums.

7. Where would you like to act?

I don’t believe this band will ever perform live, sorry to say!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We could play some shows with The Design Abstract maybe.

9. Whom not?

I’d pass on opening for Five Finger Death Punch I guess.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I had horrible stage fright when I first started playing drums. Almost a full-blown panic attack. I think the only thing that helped me get over it was to keep playing shows. It got to the point I felt absolutely nothing getting up on stage; that’s when I knew it was time to stop.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

None of the bands I listen to play this style of music. Logan’s answer is “The holy trinity: Meshuggah and Gojira” which he then later added Lamb of God which I think makes the joke less funny.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Autographs, I guess. I don’t have any crazy stories like that.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They should have better taste. …no, but actually we’re grateful for anyone who checks out our music, in any capacity. It’s really cool to see people discover one of the bands on Abstrakted Records and get turned on by other ones!

14. What do you think of our site?

I like your logo. who did your logo?

15. Something to add?

Knowing the order of the letters in the alphabet doesn’t affect reading in any way; they could be in any order, but it wouldn’t make a difference.
