Interviews: Paroxysmal

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Technical Brutal Death Metal band, Paroxysmal from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band was originally called Paroxysmal Butchering, but we recently shortened it. It fits our style, it’s sudden, it’s violent, it’s unexpected. The name describes what we bring to the table.  

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Writing death metal is as much fun as I’ve ever had, as a musician. It’s challenging, it’s highly detailed, and the finished product is fucking awesome.  

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, we all met because of the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Tim: Suffocation.

Josh: Disgorge.

Billy: Origin.  

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I just write, and come up with weird-sounding riffs, in an effort to impress Josh. hahaha  

6. Where was your last gig?

Mi Ranchito Bar, in downtown Los Angeles.  

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere that will have us. Sometimes the super unconventional gigs are the most fun. 

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It’d be awesome to share the stage with Suffocation, just because I’ve been a big fan of theirs for years. Hate Eternal, as well.  

9. Whom not?

As long as they’re not advocating actual violence against people, or groups of people, I’m good playing with whoever. Here, at Paroxysmal, we're lovers, not fighters.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, but I know our guitarist gets it from time to time. My outlook is this: who cares? Play your music, and don’t think about the people watching you play your music.  

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Suffocation, The Black Dahlia Murder, Hate Eternal, and Belphegor, mostly. 

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A LOT of people ask me to draw dicks on them. What can I say, I draw dicks.  

13. What do you think of your fans?

They’re awesome. Going to shows is basically just hanging out with buds, in different cities. 

14. What do you think of our site?

Yeah, I was just on it, you guys aren’t messing around. It’s very official, and the focus on lesser-known bands, (like us), is really cool. You’re doing good work, here. haha
