Track By Tracks: Polymerase - Dreams And Realities I / Dreams And Realities II (2023)

Dreams And Realities is a two-part album project by Philippine stoner rock group Polymerase. The band started recording in 2021 and the idea was to create a story of a traveler in space that was able to experience time differently thus the track Space Carousel. Other tracks such as Blade Of The Demon God, The Sage, and Evil Hand are part of the journey where the traveler in space was able to reflect within himself. He becomes a sage by using the negative and positive forces of the universe through the blade of the demon god. That, to achieve true enlightenment you have to accept the vileness/ evilness of human nature and learn to use it to battle evil. By using the horns to fight the fangs and letting them taste their own medicine we would be able to achieve the accurate meaning of peace and happiness within ourselves. Evil Hand is the representation of the dark emotions of human nature, even though humanity will strive to be good there will be an ego that will pull him down into himself which will either be for his survival or for selfish reasons. The instrumentals are part of the journey where the listener will just have to imagine without the lyrics; the wave of sound brought by the tracks. It is also a tribute to an earlier work in which the first 4 tracks were instrumentals.

Dreams and Realities 2 is the continuation of the journey of the astronaut. This album reflects on if the astronaut is really traveling in outer space or if the experience is just in his head. The track Children of Terra is a cry for help or in search of comfort in his own struggle if you put it as an outer space journey; and if you checked the album cover of dreams and Realities 1, the astronaut is stranded in a far-away world, and he needs all the comfort he will get to survive. Yet, in hardship, he still thanks his life for enduring the battles he puts up with. The next track is Dreams and Realities, and maybe a representation of the astronaut losing his mind because of his loneliness and being stuck in a distant world where there is no communication or interaction. It may also be an interpretation of a mind losing track of time or a vague reflection on understanding his dreams and his reality. This may be a voicing out of the subconscious to ask for help with a schizophrenic episode/ mind. Third is Zodiac Queen, as the story flows since the astronaut longs for human connection, he imagines his relationship, or probably from his memory, that he hungers for an emotional connection. It is also a representation of a toxic relationship wherein you become addicted to the feeling of the dopamine reward system brought by your lover that you forget your sense of reality. The Fourth track is, Riding the Crystals of Heaven, this track is about enjoying the things in the present. What is happening now is your present light, your shining moment, and you’ll just have to enjoy the little things for when it passes you cannot ride it or experience the feeling of heaven. The instrumentals are also a tribute to the previous work.
