Behind The Tracks: Yvet Garden - When The Angels Fall (Single) (2023)
When The Angels Fall, as its name suggests, is a rather dark song about depression.
After our epic tour of the UK at the end of 2019, some members took a step back from the band followed by the global pandemic, which was mentally quite difficult on a personal level for all of us. This song is the 1st composition Flo has come up with since then and I wanted to express what I was feeling at the time.
Depression is a subject I take very seriously because it's often invisible to others and can cause a lot of harm - invisible to others and can cause a lot of damage.
Rest assured, I'm fine! But not everyone is, so don't hesitate to speak out. There's a light at the end of the tunnel.
This track embodies the revival of the band. A mix of old riffs, and a fast rhythm, was just what we needed to motivate us to get together to rehearse/compose and see what we were going to do next.
The intention at the time was to continue with pop punk, albeit with a more altered and less positive vision than at the time. The first riffs and demos were very much inspired instrumentally by an album that marked a very fine evolution in style for a band, namely Trash Boat's 'Nothing I Write You Can Change What You've Been Through'. Particularly the tracks 'How Selfish I Seem' and 'Tring Quarry'.
High gain and sharp lead, perfect for the band's revival. But as they say, 'Run from the past and it comes galloping back'.
