Interviews About Albums: Fortunato - From High Above (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the French Melodic Metal band Fortunato to ask some questions about their new album "From High Above". 

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Sly: Personally, I'm naturally very proud of it even though I didn't write any music for this band. Most of all, I'm particularly proud of being in a band in which Markus, who is actually the boss, let me play the drum parts I want, and let me express myself.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Sly: I don't really want to tell its meaning you know, so everyone can take it for himself and make it personal.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP? 

Alex: Markus and Seb are the main composers, but we all participate, by modifying structures or riffs, adding melodies, etc…

Seb: For the lyrics, Markus write the majority of the songs, but sly and Alex wrote 3 songs. Seb only give the "theme" of lyrics he feels on his composition, and we work on it.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

Sly: I would say «If you die». But I won't tell why, even though, if you read the lyrics, you can easily understand why this song is so special.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

No special message. A lot of different subjects.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

Sly: Those of «Arise!», that can be heard as the second part of «If you die». Check these songs and you'll get what I mean.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Sly: Inspiration is everywhere, in good and evil, in love and hate, in life and death. You just gotta be in the right mood at the right time and place, and inspiration can fall on you like the pox on the lower clergy (laughs)
