Interviews: Ancestral Blood
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal/Dark Metal/Symphonic Black Metal/Melodic Black Metal band, Ancestral Blood from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, was it planned, or did it just come out like
that?
Verigo: I usually create the music first and feel where it takes me later. Forgotten Myths and
Legends was the first song finished with its song title. To me, the song depicted the times of
kings, heroes, and quests. Myths and Legends became the main focus of the band. Ancestral
Blood was the name chosen soon after.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Verigo: This genre was chosen because it is a name understood by people for a musical outlet
that would best classify this style.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Verigo: I started this band many years before even meeting the current members of today. I
don’t even think Circe or our current bass player was born yet.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Verigo: Everything Old by Razor, Deathrow, Slayer, Sepultura, Dark Funeral, Setherial, Thy
Primordial, Isvind, Helheim, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Demolition Hammer
Circe: Limbonic Art, Helheim, Abigor, Vried, Dark Throne
Void: Black Sabbath, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, 90s Florida Death Metal
5. Who or What inspires you to write songs?
Verigo: Places, Memories, and Stories, especially for Ancestral Blood. I think of my own
Background which goes back to the Old World. I have spent a lot of time in places built
centuries back where my ancestors lived. I rested in old cemeteries where they lie. Ate from the
old fields they plowed from a very old crop cycle centuries back. I rehearsed my music off the
balconies of their stone homes that look like castles overlooking the towns from its high
mountains. The landscapes are filled with haunting vibrance. And the stories told by my
grandparents of old legends and ghost stories from the old village they lived.
6. Where was your last gig?
Verigo: Our last gig took place in Charlotte on Feb 17th of 2023 with my other band called Night
Attack.
7. Where would you like to act?
Europe.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Anyone with similar styles of music
9. Whom not?
Anyone that obviously wouldn’t make sense to feature us with.
10. Have any of you suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Verigo: I have not - I have coached others who have had it. I told them to separate their mind
from the situation.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Verigo: Vordven, Bishop of Hexen, Mephistopheles, Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath
and a lot of different 70s and 80s lead guitarists.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Ladies asking for autographs in unusual places in the presence of your girlfriend, Fans we don’t
know messaging the band for rides to show.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Verigo: I usually don’t try to get to know my fans at a personal level. So who they are and what
they do or are into does not become my business. But I do 100% appreciate and hail those who
support my bands.
14. What do you think of our site?
