Interviews: FURZE

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal/Doom Metal/Thrash Metal/Death Metal project, FURZE from Norway. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that? 

I found it by coincidence upon looking up yet a different word in a dictionary whilst writing lyrics, back in 1998. So the band name changed from WOE J REAPER to FURZE, but WJR was kept as my alias within FURZE. FURZE –«the Golden Thorn» refering to the name of the blade on The Reaper’s scythe. It just made sense and as an English word it is, sounds better as a band name than the previous one.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because I feel and felt I had something of my own to offer within Metal… And besides, this is what I do.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

I know myself. It's a one-man’s blur.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Black Sabbath, Hellhammer, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Drøbaksundets Døball Comp, and Fifty Foot Hose.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

The psych slumbers, the religious past, and present, the eternal void of wonders. Reality, dreams, blasphemy, and fantasies.

6. Where was your last gig?

INFERNO FEST, Oslo April 2017.

7. Where would you like to act?

In Zaredoo.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

Tut Ank Amon.

9. Whom not? 

At least not in ZERO TOLERANCE Zine, cause they rejected any contact with FURZE.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Beginner’s way of course, with sobriety and vodka.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

Thrash bands with a love for death – and death bands with a room of mushy rehearsal space echo.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

How do you go about making so weird music?

13. What do you think of your fans?

That is a specific question, Mr. Core. I'm thankful that you care about the past and present work, it means a lot!

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a great hobby you put to fruition there guys! Very rich in details and lots of work put down!
