Interviews: Pyre Fyre

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Metal band, Pyre Fyre from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We had a pretty big case of writer's block when thinking of band names. We wanted to do something involving pyres to get all medieval about it, and that's the one that stuck.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When we first started out, we were dinking around in pay-by-the-hour music studios and always played as hard as humanly possible and completely dimed everything out. We were also terrible at our instruments - a perfect recipe for doom metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Nope, we all met online looking for people to start a band with. However, Dan and I grew up just one or two towns away from one another in Bergen County, NJ. We actually went through a few lineup changes over the years and Dylan joined us about a year and a half ago. Or maybe it was three years ago. Who knows at this point, it's tough to keep track.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Our biggest inspirations for Pyre Fyre include Melvins, Sleep, Boris, Fuzz, Motorhead, and way too many more to name them all.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Most of our songs are inspired by B movies, the brutal parts of the natural world, social collapse, and technocracy.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our most recent run of shows included QXTs in Newark, New Jersey, and Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn.

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere that people are interested in having us!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be great to one day get enough traction to open for any of the aforementioned bands.

9. Whom not?

We're pretty open-minded and looking for any crowd receptive to us. A band would need to do something egregious for us to absolutely say no to ever performing with them.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

It never goes away. Just keep playing in front of a crowd and eventually, you get used to the feeling. Just have a brewski and do some push-ups and you'll feel like a macho man.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mentioned above.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A ride home after a show.

13. What do you think of your fans?

It's always great to hear from people that are interested in what we're doing! We're thankful for the support we've gotten in all of its forms.

14. What do you think of our site?

Thanks for taking the time to interview bands and promote a diverse range of underground musicians from across the globe. There's nothing like finding a zine to help you discover new bands when you go down a genre rabbit hole.

15. Something to add?

Rock over London, rock on Chicago. Wheaties: The Breakfast of Champions.
