Interviews: Dark Reflection

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band Dark Reflection from Sweden. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name was pretty random, it just came on by itself when we were trying out things that we thought sounded kind of cool haha.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I (Niclas) grow up listening to bands such as Maiden, Priest and Metallica, and so on, this music is pretty much the same but with lower tuning, faster, and more aggressive. Just the natural way for it to evolve I guess. And also later in my teens when I discovered death metal those bands had a big influence on me as well.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No none of us knew each other before I started the band.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Niclas - "Iron Maiden" (best band in the world, all other answers are wrong.) 

Johan - "Tribulation"

Nail - A bunch, but looking forward to the new "Thy Art is Murder" Right now 

Jonatan - "Cattle Decapitation" & "Orbit Culture" at the moment.

Hugo - "Carcass" & "Soreption"

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Many different things, sometimes you hear a song or a band and you want to do your own sort of twist of something in that style, and other times you just come up with stuff yourself.

6. Where was your last gig?

At klubb Fredagsmangel Stockholm December 2021

7. Where would you like to act?

Act as in where we would like to play live? Then Gefle Metal or Sweden Rock would be pretty cool, but there are a bunch of Clubs and other festivals to all over Sweden and Europe that would be fun to play.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Don't really know we have not really thought about it. But having some guest Vocals from like Mikael Stanne or a Solo from Jesper Strömblad would be pretty awesome!

9. Whom not?

Can't think of anyone in particular that we could not do a collaboration with, except Sean Bannan, Yuk!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I don't think anyone of us has had really stage fright, Sure you're a bit nervous before you go up on stage, especially if you have not played live for a while, but at least for me (Niclas) it's sort of a good nervous feeling. And it usually passes pretty fast if you have rehearsed and know what to play well, and then you can just enjoy the ride. And if you have stage fright I would say, practice so you know your parts by heart before, and don't care too much what anyone else thinks or say! Sure, some criticism and pointers can be good to have sometimes as well, but don't let it stop you from doing what you want to do.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Niclas: My favorite band is Iron Maiden so undeniable they have inspired me a great deal, but other than that I say the Gothenburg 90s death metal style like early In Flames and At the Gates is probably the biggest inspiration for me.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We have not really had any weird requests yet that I can think of. Maybe now that we will be getting out and playing more live the next year we will have some stories haha

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are great, everyone has been really positive and supportive of these new releases and we grow faster than ever before on every platform. So we are really looking forward to coming out and playing these songs live and meeting the people who have supported us this far!
