Interviews: EGREGORE

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Grindcore solo project EGREGORE from the USA. Check out this project and its music.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name Egregore came from a lecture I listened to on YouTube about the topic of Egregores. Around the same time, there was also a book I read called Egregores: The Occult Entities That Watch Over Human Destiny

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think it’s fun to make evil, dark, minor key-sounding songs. Plus one of my favorite things to do on guitar is tremolo pick fast like Slayer so writing extreme metal type of riffs felt like the correct thing to do at the moment.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I am the only member of the band so I have known myself for a few decades at this point. KNOW THYSELF.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

That’s a bit of a difficult question because I like certain bands for certain reasons. A few of my favorites would be Thin Lizzy, Carcass, Megadeth, Sepultura, UFO, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Rory Gallagher, and Morbid Angel. Honestly,  I listen to mostly 70s/80s hard rock and Metal. It would probably surprise people to find out I have been listening to the same Europe and John Norum(Europe’s super-talented guitarist) albums for the past few months considering this is an “extreme” metal project.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Strange paranormal life experiences, a good book, blast beats & d-beats, and whenever the idea for a song gets beamed to my mind from that mystical place where ideas reside. 6. Where was your last gig? Egregore at the moment is only a studio project so I have never played any of this material live. However, I played a bunch of shows in another band when I was younger. It was many moons ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

Act? I would like to act with Leonard Nimoy(Spock) of Star Trek on the Enterprise on some far-out space mission. It would probably be the best episode of Star Trek ever.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Carcass

9. Whom not?

Anyone that is mean or cruel to others and does not like Thin Lizzy.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yeah, lots of times in the past. I’m not sure if you can actually “beat it” unless you’re Michael Jackson but try not to get too far in your own head about what other people will think of you. Anxiety is just conspiracy theories you tell yourself about yourself or events that are probably not true.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Thin Lizzy, Carcass, Sepultura, Morbid Angel, Repulsion, and too many to list.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing too far out of the normal.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Hmmm. I don’t know. The word “fans” is weird for me to consider because I’m a normal dude with a normie full-time job so I try not to think of myself as above people with “fans”. We are all made of the same base recycled space materials. Megalomania isn’t for me. I’m a fan myself. Haha!!! However, Thanks to anyone who has supported this project. It means a lot!

14. What do you think of our site?

The site is great! A+ It deserves 33 gold stars.

15. Something to add?

Reading books is super fucking metal. You can learn a lot from the Public Library for free. Shout out to the friends: Lavender Vinyl, RIP Guitars, Rob Gray, Toxic Holocaust, Blood Star, Desert Wastelands Productions(Sean), Tyson Colvell for the Obituary shirt, obviously the capital B in the Boss Mattia of Sentient Ruin, and my parents for buying me my first guitar for my birthday.
