Interviews: Evilon

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Folk Metal band Evilon from Sweden. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name is actually pretty simple, I wanted us to be called "Avalon" (because of all the cool mythical tales and so on), but sadly the name was already taken by a Christian rock band. So I thought: Damn, Avalon is still a cool name, and we play a kinda "evil music".. Avalon + Evil = Evilon

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

When I was younger I only listened to metal / heavy metal and didn't really like growling vocals and that kind of music that much. But with age, I evolved and I began to enjoy the heavier elements more and more than entered the world of drop tuning on the guitar and I was hooked!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, I and Kenneth were in a heavy metal band before we started Evilon, when I left that band I decided to leave as well. It didn't take long until we started to discuss creating a new band. You could say that he opened up the gate that I entered when I really started to enjoy growling vocals.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I think we all stand kinda united in this question: Amon Amarth Ensiferum Wintersun Picking one favorite is almost impossible!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Mostly things from my personal life, things that I've been through, and things I just have to get out of my system. It can be everything from hate and love to grief. Usually, I use my experiences and make a tale in Viking style.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was one of our coolest gigs, it was in Stockholm and the gig was: Wacken Metalbattle! unfortunately, we didn't win but I had a blast! 

7. Where would you like to act?

I think maybe my answer to the previous questing answers this: Wacken.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Amon Amarth would both be really fitting and freaking awesome.

9. Whom not?

Actually no idea

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Of course, I think everyone has experienced it at some point. First of all: know your parts, this leads to train, train, train, and train until your muscles know the songs by heart. Second: for me at least, warming up my diaphragm has a calming effect on me at least, I think it has to do with a deep breath. Third (and most important one): You are only human, everyone will fuck up at some point but that is ok, no one is perfect! (And the chance that the crowd hears a small mistake is very small)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

So many bands in so many genres: Gamma Ray, Helloween, Queen, Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Amon Amarht, the list is endless.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I don't think I ever had any "weird" requests.. but for me, it was surreal the first time a fan wanted an autograph.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are without a doubt the best fans in the world, we are like a big happy family.

14. What do you think of our site?

The site looks good, it looks professional and it's easy to navigate, spot on!

15. Something to add?

Our Album "A warriors way" will be released on the 8th of September, this is for sure our best album to this point and we are really proud of it, you don't want to miss this one!
