Interviews: Exilia

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band, Exilia from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Thanks for the opportunity to talk about our music and message, EXILIA. The band name actually came from a box that Masha had at home when she was a teenager. She liked it so much that we decided to keep it for the band. Later on, we discovered the meaning behind it and liked it even more.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't plan to play any specific genre; it just naturally came out in our rehearsal room. All of us had influences in the rock-metal scene, and Masha's unique ability to mix different styles with catchy melodies and her distinctive vocal sound shaped our genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Before forming the band, we didn't really know each other; we had only seen each other at some important live shows.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mark Campailla (drummer) - Guns N' Roses

Masha Mysmane (vocalist) - Queens of the Stone Age

Tambu (bass player) - Faith No More

Wolve (guitar player ) - Pantera

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life itself inspires us to write songs. Music is a form of expression, a unique language to delve deep into our souls.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was in Austria at a metal festival.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to perform in Australia; it's a place we've never been to before.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

One artist we'd love to feature with is Travis Barker; we think he's not only a great drummer but also a fantastic producer.

9. Whom not?

It’s not nice to say :-)… It's great to focus on what we love and cherish.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

As for stage fright, none of us have really suffered from it. We actually enjoy the adrenaline rush before going on stage. A tip for beginners to beat stage fright is to take three long breaths, inhaling for ten seconds and then exhaling for ten seconds, to help with concentration.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Korn, Metallica, Linkin Park, and While She Sleeps.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To make a big signature on his backside :-)

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are the best in the world! They have supported us through some very difficult times and have always been there to encourage us to keep going. Our lyrics are always meaningful, so we know they are a clever audience that cares about emotions and respect. They are the best!

14. What do you think of our site?

Very well done!

15. Something to add?

We believe that music can bring us endless possibilities in terms of creativity. We don't like to limit ourselves to just one genre; we prefer not to be labeled in this or that. We like to think that good music can stand by itself, transcending any boundaries.
