Interviews: Gutted Alive

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Brutal Death Metal band Gutted Alive from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We originally went by The Gutted when we started. But there is already a band called Gutted and we were getting buried in Google searches. We decided to change it up and settled on Gutted Alive. Pretty brutal visual haha!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

All of us have been listening to Death Metal for a while. We wanted to start a band in the vein of bands like Cannibal Corpse and Gorerotted. Just violent imagery and that kinda thing. Plus, it’s just fun to write aggressive shit.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Me (Jason, guitarist) and Ryan (vocalist) knew each other since shortly after high school. I knew Brandon’s older brother and he introduced us. I’ve known Rick (guitarist) almost as long as Ryan. And the rest we’ve met through the scene here in Rochester, NY.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Brandon and I are huge Cradle of Filth fans, Rick and Ryan are Cannibal Corpse, and Joe is Type O Negative.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

We’re into true crime and horror movies. We all have our own interests with different bands and those kinda creep into everything we write.

6. Where was your last gig?

As of this writing, we played a show here in our hometown at a venue called The Bug Jar. Fun place!

7. Where would you like to act?

Hopefully someday in Europe.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Oh man, Cannibal Corpse all day!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

I can’t vouch for the other guys but not really. Maybe one time. Just gotta take some deep breaths and believe in yourself. Once you get past that first song you’re usually locked in and nothing else matters.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Gorerotted, Bloodbath, there are tons.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Nothing really comes to mind. Def met some weird people, but really can’t think of anything.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think they’re awesome! They are the reason we stay at this. We just hope to gain more.

14. What do you think of our site?

You guys definitely have quite the catalog! Great platform to find bands you haven’t heard yet.
