Interviews: Lava Invocator

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Blackened Death Metal band, Lava Invocator from Ukraine. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Lava Invocator was started by me (Ingvaar) in 2015 in Dnipro, Ukraine. We mix brutal and uncompromising riffs with atmospheric melodies in our music. Lava Invocator’s name is a mystery call to a powerful force of fire that breaks out and floods all around, it’s a way of purification through fire.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal music is the best way to express the deepest emotions, especially since it works well in the case of black metal or blackened death. Anger, fury, and melodism, that’s why we like this genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We played in another metal band before but decided to create something a bit different, more angry and melodic, with a focus on guitar riffs and devastating blast beats.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

There are a lot of them! We listen to various metal bands and styles: thrash, black, death, and experimental music. So it is rather difficult to name only one favorite band. There is always something interesting to listen to.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Current events in Ukraine have been taken as a basis for our recent album “Signs of Apocalypse”. The album is full of experiences of real people’s suffering. It includes chronicles and real speeches of the very first days of the invasion. The album is an angry story about destruction and pain, about real death that we are also faced with.

6. Where was your last gig?

We performed in Ukraine in clubs and festivals, however before the War. Right now it’s rather difficult to have an active concert activity in the country and almost impossible to do it outside. Hope to have both right after the victory and the end of the war.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Greta Thunberg has a good growl, haha! But seriously, Metallica, Slayer, and Sepultura are on top! Dark Funeral, Mayhem, Dimmu Borgir, Deicide, and Nile would also be great to play with.

9. Whom not?

Justin Bieber is not good enough, hehe!

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

It’s strong, especially in the beginning. If you would like to make a great performance, you always think about how to make it excellent. However, even famous great bands make mistakes, everybody makes mistakes, it’s okay. So, you can always change or improve something, then you have a great gig ahead.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Hmm, the albums that impressed me the most when I was a teenager: Rainbow “Raising”, Moonspell “Wolfheart”, Amorphis “Tales..”, “Puritanical..” Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem “Grand Declaration..”, Dissection “Somberlain”.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are happy to have such great fans, who understand our music and the messages we’re sending to. It's amazing to have such great feedback from them! Thank you, guys, very much appreciated!

14. What do you think of our site?

Very cool place for metal music, bands, and news! Wish you all the best in your successful professional development!

15. Something to add?

We would be glad to see you among the followers on our Bandcamp page and my YouTube channel about music. All the money from our music we send to humanitarian support in Ukraine. Thanks a lot, If you would like to contribute! Thanks to everyone, listen to metal, hail metal, and cheers!
