Interviews: Midnight Tripper

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock 'N' Roll band, Midnight Tripper from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Mikke Paonessa wrote down the idea one night while under the influence at 2 AM, so in a sense we should have been named 2AM Tripper (haha)

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Our genre is influenced by our many different personal tastes in music. We try to not confine ourselves to writing within one specific style and have various approaches to writing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Dan and Mikke P. have been long-time friends and worked together in other bands since 2007. Mike M. and Reed had known each other from their bands crossing paths in the local music scene. Mike M., Reed, and Mikke P. started jamming and after about a year, Dan joined the group as the vocalist.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Mike Manseau - Black Sabbath

Mike Paonessa - The Rolling Stones

Reed Rosiana - Rage Against the Machine

Dan Post - Every Time I Die

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We find a lot of inspiration in storytelling and thematic writing. Sometimes these stories have deeper meanings revolving around personal experiences and crises. Other times we simply enjoy writing surface-level, fun, storytelling songs. The themes we center around most are science fiction, horror, folklore, and apocalyptic events

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Hamilton, Ontario on June 12 at Doors Pub: Taco Joint and Metal Bar with Mvll Crimes, Haters, and Milk Faction. It was a great hardcore/ garage punk mash-up night.

7. Where would you like to act?

As far as places to play, I think it is at the top of every band's list to play the legendary Whiskey A-Go-Go on Sunset Strip at some point in their career.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Cancer Bats would be a cool band to play a show with at some point. They have been a big influence on our sound, and they absolutely rip.

9. Whom not?

Ivy Gardens. Those guys suck.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Some of us experience a weird mixture of excitement and nerves before bigger shows and festivals. We have all experienced some common fears associated with stage fright like equipment malfunctions, being sick on stage, and playing the wrong parts of songs. The key is how you recover from your mistakes.

Everyone will experience the same problems, you need to learn how to roll with whatever comes your way. Even the largest acts in the world have technical difficulties, it's all about how you recover from those situations.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Cancer Bats, Velvet Revolver, Rob Zombie, and Iggy Pop have the biggest influence on our overall sound, but we are influenced by many different genres and artists.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Acoustic set. And we've done it. Twice.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We're very grateful that people come out to support our music and have a lot of fun interacting with everyone at our shows.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a great space and resource for developing artists who are looking to branch out and make connections. It would be a very useful tool when looking for bands to tour within different areas of the world.

15. Something to add?

We're working towards recording our first album, with the intention to release it in 2024.
