Interviews: One Last Day

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Modern Hard Rock/Hard Rock band One Last Day, from the UK. Check out this band and give them a like on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Alex: John had a lightbulb moment a few years back when putting up with a shitty job.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Alex: It kinda just happened as we all came together from various backgrounds. We have no set rule for what we play. If it rocks, we go with the flow.

Gareth: It comes naturally - however, as Alex says, we are open-minded in what we play.

John: It's a genre that I'm passionate about and enjoy very much.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

John: Myself and G go back years. I met Alex through the local scene playing in bands. Huw, I've recently met through him joining our band and am very happy to have him on board. Great player, a great guy!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Alex: Mine changes a lot. At the moment; Nonpoint and Shaman's Harvest.

Huw: A bit of a moving target, but currently probably Bad Omens and Nothing More.

Gareth: It never stays the same. Too many favorites to list, but right now I listen to a lot of Alter Bridge and Bring Me The Horizon among others.

John: Black Stone Cherry

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Alex: Mainly anything I've been through or continue to go through. No fiction in this band!

Gareth: I'm usually inspired by whatever I'm listening to a lot of at the time!

John: My bandmates and bands I listen to. General life!

6. Where was your last gig?

Gareth: Face Bar, Reading - SummerBash. A great one-day festival hosted by friends of ours!

7. Where would you like to act?

Alex: My dream is to play Download Festival and Wembley Arena. I've just always wanted to.

Huw: Any large festival main stage would be pretty awesome!

Gareth: Any large festival would be great!

John: Download Festival

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Alex: Would love to do a feature with Corey Taylor. Always been an idol of mine.

Huw: It would be cool to work with someone contrasting who has their own unique style, maybe a major rapper or singer with a heavily stylized approach.

Gareth: Someone who has a voice that would complement Alex, but sounds very different.

John: Three Days Grace or Taylor Momsen

9. Whom not?

Alex: I'm open to everyone, to be honest. Apart from those strange things that are 'The Island Boys'.

Gareth: Gary Glitter

John: Jedward

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Alex: I've been lucky that I haven't had stage fright however that doesn't mean I don't feel some form of anxiety before we play. An excitement. My advice would be to believe in yourself and what you are doing and lose yourself in the moment and enjoy it. I tend to find smaller crowds scarier than a larger crowd. I'm odd. Lol

Huw: It happens to everyone at some point, just try to remember you're only there in the first place because you can do it. Less about stage fright, but should you make a mistake, try to brush it off and keep going immediately like it didn't happen. Don't look up at the crowd to see if they noticed, they'll notice that more than any errors.

Gareth: I have a couple of times, but nothing serious. Just get on with it, as soon as you hit that first note, it can all go away!

John: Yes definitely! Back when I started I could barely get the courage to get up on stage. I would panic, get the shakes and genuinely be a mess! My advice is to push through, don't overthink the mistakes, and have trust in yourself and your bandmates.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Gareth: Alter Bridge, Linkin Park, Judas Priest, (just a huge fan, not really musically inspired), Slipknot, Korn, a lot of that 90's nu metal era. many more - too many to list!

John: Black Stone Cherry, Three Days Grace, Bon Jovi, Shinedown

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Alex: We are still awaiting a strange request. Anyone out there reading, feel free to drop requests to our FB inbox haha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Alex: I am grateful to each and every one that supports our journey and will never forget those that have been there since the start.

Gareth: They're all great and inspire us to keep going!

John: Awesome and very grateful for their support.

14. What do you think of our site?

Alex: BTC is a great site and I really love the support for unsigned talent.

Gareth: It's a great site that supports so many talented musicians.

15. Something to add?

John: We're One Last Day and we're going to take over the fucking world 🤘
