Interviews: Sprengkopf
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal/Satanic Black Metal band Sprengkopf from Singapore. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Sieg: As many people already knew, this was initially a solo project. The idea of the band name was given by a very close and long-time friend of mine, Tremor, as I was telling him I wanted something to do with war. He came up with Warhead in German, which is Sprengkopf. He was supposed to be the second guitarist of the band. However, due to heavy work and family commitments, it was extremely difficult and stressful for him to carry on with the band. We parted ways in the most amicable way and are still in touch today talking nonsense and joking regularly.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Sieg: As previously mentioned, this was supposed to be a solo project. But eventually turned into a full band outfit with most members into black metal. So we decided this was the best genre to continue on and not drift to other genres.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Sieg: Everyone knew each other in the band way before it was formed. Except for VKD who was later introduced to the drummer when we did our first live performance in 2018. VKD was spotted by us when he attended local extreme metal shows at the age of 14. But that was years ago and we got him to join the band when he was only 16 (if I remember correctly). XIII and I went a long way back as buddies since 2013 and Sven was a stand-in drummer sessions for my main band, Ilemauzar, when we were the special guest band for Vader's show in Cebu, Philippines. So basically all of them were convinced by me to join the band after seeing the potential of turning this into a band outfit.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Sieg: Dissection
Sven: Suffocation
VKD: Vothana
XIII: Archgoat
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Sieg: Inspiration comes when anger is present. Sometimes the resentment towards ugly human behavior as well will trigger some ideas to write songs. Thus, at the time of the end, we embrace!
6. Where was your last gig?
Sieg: Our last gig was in 2019. Vent Box 2019 Music Festival. Alongside Korean Black Metal bands, Dark Mirror ov Tragedy. It was held in Singapore by our booking agency. It wasn't some big outdoor fest but just an indoor mini-festival.
7. Where would you like to act?
Sieg: Any parts of Europe. We have a lot of friends from there and it would be great to have shows and hang out with our friends.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Sieg: No bands in particular but as long as they are cool with no rock star bullshit we are fine. But if we really have to choose then perhaps our friends from France. Satanic Death Metal, Necrowretch.
9. Whom not?
Sieg: Bands who act like rockstars or with managers who are a pain in the ass!
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Sieg: The band members do not exactly have stage fright, especially the drummer who has been performing regularly to huge crowds in Indonesia festivals. But sometimes I do suffer from stage fright and start to fumble during my solos.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Sieg: Behemoth, Marduk, Watain, Dark Funeral, Abbath/Immortal, even Mayhem.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Sieg: No one has ever asked for any weird things so far. Hopefully not. But if it happens, it better be interesting and hilarious.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Sieg: We look at them more as our friends than fans. And we respect every individual one of them. They are the pillars of support to keep us going!
14. What do you think of our site?
Sieg: Looks great! And lots of news, interviews, and reviews of really underground bands!
15. Something to add?
