Interviews About Albums: Crossing The Rubicon - Eclipse (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the American Progressive Metal/Djent band Crossing The Rubicon to ask some questions about their album "Eclipse"

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Our new EP, "Eclipse," is definitely our heaviest yet. We're mixing in elements of melodic death metal, deathcore, and thall. Still, we're keeping our staple sax sound and refining our mixing and mastering this time around.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

"Eclipse" serves as a triple entendre. It explores societal masks versus inner monologues, continues our main character's arc (which our upcoming graphic novel will expand on), and reflects on societal changes post-pandemic.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

Zach McDermott and I are the main writers and the core of the band. While Zach brings the groove, as the guitarist, I crafted all the guitar riffs. Our saxophonist, Manuel Trabucco, wrote his own parts. We collaborated remotely to ensure his contributions were a perfect fit.

4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?

In "Rite of Passage," you'll find our face-melting riffs, reminiscent of Animals as Leaders. "Coalesce" leans into melody, channeling a Killswitch Engage vibe.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

There's no overt message, but fans should keep an eye on our unfolding storyline, especially as we gear up for our 2024 LP. Also, get excited for our upcoming graphic novel that will deepen the storyline.

6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?

We're an instrumental band, so the sax is the star—no lyrics to dissect here.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

This EP isn't just about musical influences; it’s about life events and struggles that pushed us to find our authentic voice, especially after some unpleasant band member changes.

8. Something to add?

Heads up, our release date is October 27th, 2023, featuring six killer instrumental tracks with sax as the lead.
