Interviews About Albums: State Of Deceit - Stalked By Daemons, Guarded By Angels (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Metalcore/Groove Metal/Thrash Metal band State Of Deceit to ask some questions about their album "Stalked By Daemons, Guarded By Angels". 

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

This is our Debut album, and we couldn’t be more proud of it, It’s got something for everyone, from eclectic lead guitar to thunderous breakdowns, harrowing harmonies to gritty gutturals. We want everyone to sing along, get up, and tear the places up when they hear these songs.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Stalked by Daemons is the theme throughout the album, each song touches on a different aspect. From metal struggles in ‘Endure My Fate’ and ‘Hate Within’, to all-out armageddon in ‘Suffer me’, and even the modern daemons of the internet in ‘Digital Tattoo’

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

It’s been written by all of us, we all have different tastes, different ideas, and inspiration which makes it a true work of us all.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

I think we’d all have different songs! Pete’s favorite is Stalked by Daemons, Guarded by Angels, Jon’s favorite track is the thrashy ‘Digital Tattoo’ Gareth shreds up ‘Withered’, Davide digs ‘Mark of the Whale’ and Matt likes them all!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

The special message of the album… I’d say it’s about facing whatever comes your way and beating it, no matter how hard or challenging it may be. Everyone can do it, you can do it.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

There are lots of bits we like, our favorite snippets we have pulled out and put in the physical album so get it and have a look!

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

I think as cliche as it sounds, all the people who made this album possible, Our Decitists -the fans, Matt Wilson our old bassist, Tim in Sonic One Studios for his incredibly gifted ear that made this album everything it is! Eclipse Records for believing in it and backing us, and lastly all our family and friends who withstood the hours of phone calls on lyrics, practices, and demos (especially the bad vocal ideas) it all came good in the end, and we hope you all love it.
