Interviews: Dead Bait
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Dead Bait from the UK. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
DB: We were struggling to find a name for a while and then Kyran our singer suggested 'Dead Bait' and we went with it. It doesn't mean anything, we just thought it sounded cool.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
DB: Obviously we've all grown up listening to metal music would be the first reason. But also how engaged the audience is at live shows, to see people moshing and moving about to your music makes you feel good.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
DB: Me (Bobby) and Victor knew each other before as did Toby and Kyran. I was looking for a singer and got talking with Kyran he suggested Toby play drums in the band and I suggested Vic play bass.
4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
DB: Various reasons. But the best one is probably to make people and audiences feel an emotion. Whether they've had a shitty day and they can put one of our songs on and get lost in it for a bit or they come to one of our shows and escape through our music that way.
5. Where was your last gig?
DB: Nottingham, it was a brilliant crowd. Nottingham has a brilliant metal scene, we would like to gig there more often.
6. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
DB: All of us have been doing this for a long while, even before Dead Bait. So we've got our nerves under control on stage. I would say it's more excitement and adrenaline that I feel now more than nerves. As for tips, I think it's perfectly natural to feel a little bit nervous before going up on stage, keep doing it, it gets easier with each show.
7. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
DB: Every encounter we've had with fans has been great, so far thankfully. I wouldn't say it's weird but we had someone ask us if our latest EP was on vinyl. We were just a bit surprised at this stage that someone would want our record in that format. Once we see more demand for it we would happily get it pressed.
8. What do you think of your fans?
DB: They're the best. If people didn't listen to our music why would do it? So we owe it to them.
9. What do you think of our site?
DB: I have massive respect for any site or publication that promotes upcoming bands and pushes independent artists' music out to the public. I've discovered some great bands your the site today.
