Interviews: Enigmatical
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Industrial Black Metal/Death Metal band Enigmatical from Sweden. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
I wanted a simple name that was a fit for my interests in the cosmos and sci-fi as well as for the fusion of black/death metal with electronics. And thought "Enigmatical" did just that.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Because beside metal I love electronic music, and at the time I started this project in 2018 I hadn't heard of acts like Mesarthim or Abstract Void yet so wanted to create this fusion mostly for my own ears.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, in the beginning, it was an instrumental project. But I thought some vocals would really help it reach the next level so I found "The Voice" which has really elevated the project to new heights.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
The Project Hate MCMXCIX and Enslaved have been the 2 bands I listened to the most the past few years. But stuff like Bathory, Hypocrisy, Morgana Lefay, Rammstein, and Dissection have all been called my favorite band at some point. The Vocalist loves Devin Townsend and The Beatles.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Any music I listen to can serve as inspiration. And I have been gathering riffs since 2003 that I never got around to recording or doing anything with so I still have a big "riff bank" that I can dig into and use.
6. Where was your last gig?
We are a studio project only as the 2 of us live in different countries and this music would be difficult to pull off live.
7. Where would you like to act?
Since we don't do shows I will tweak the answer a bit and say I would love to be featured on the roster of Season Of Mist, or another big serious record label. Otherwise, I prefer being label-free.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I would love to have Peter Tägtgren feature with some guest vocals, guest lyrics, or anything for that matter. One can dream...
9. Whom not?
Anyone affiliated with NSBM
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
I only played live once when I was young, the stage fright I felt quickly disappeared as soon we started playing. So to beat it you just need to go up and there and focus on what you can do.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Most likely Hypocrisy and Pain. but also Bathory, Dissection, and The Project Hate MCMXCIX have left their share of inspirations on Enigmatical.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
My UFO
13. What do you think of your fans?
They're great! We do have a small but very loyal fan base. Many listen to us on repeat for long periods of time which I think is mind-blowing
14. What do you think of our site?
Looking around I like it a lot! Keep up the good work!
15. Something to add?
Thank you so much for this opportunity to chat and hopefully both new and old fans liked reading it! Don't forget to check out our latest single "War Of Worlds And Dimensions", and follow us on our social-medias, bandcamp, and Spotify to keep up with our journey towards entropy!
