Interviews: Gods Of Gaia
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Orchestral Death Metal band Gods Of Gaia. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
We wanted to have a name that has a connection to what’s important to us but also mirrors the character
of the music. Gaia, the goddess who personifies Earth, was the first god in Greek history. The name Gods of
Gaia shows that we, as humans, think we even stand above the divinity of nature and cultures.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Honestly, we all grew up with Metal. Some of us took the path of being film composers, and others ended up in
electronic music and sound design. And some stayed in Metal their whole life. Death Metal is what connects
all of us and we thought it might be interesting to see the outcome of the influences of everyone.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we have known each other for years. Some of us have done different projects together before. And some
projects are still running.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
SkullFist, Twilight Force, Parasite Inc., DragonForce, Frederic Chopin, Dream Theater, Led Zeppelin, Prince,
Shadow of Intent, Claudio Monteverdi, Motörhead, and Howard Shore, just to mention some.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mostly the actions of mankind. Governments and powerful institutions obviously do a lot of bad things which
everyone knows. And every time they are not held accountable, we try to draw attention to it. Take for
example the crimes of the Catholic Church and the song “The Redeemer”. Also, a main theme is that we are
digging our own graves by our actions. And that we have the power to change that if we stick together against
the conductors of demise.
6. Where was your last gig?
That’s classified.
7. Where would you like to act?
We don’t care where we’re performing. Stadiums or clubs. If we fit in, we play. For 5000 or 5 people, it
doesn't matter.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
There are so many great musicians out there we would like to play with. Since we are a collective with many
people and a changing lineup, somehow every piece we have is a feature.
9. Whom not?
Mariah Carey
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Yes, some of us, even the ones with the most experience, experience stage fright. Everyone gets some alone
time to concentrate before the show. Then take a shot of Jägermeister and what helps is a toilet close to the
stage.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We are less inspired by bands than composers. We often start writing the orchestra parts first. However, there is no
real structure in the writing process. Sometimes one bar is enough to get inspiration for a new track.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We cannot tell. Otherwise, the interview must be censored or canceled.
13. What do you think of your fans?
No artist would be anything without fans. They mean everything to us. Everyone who likes our art and
everyone who gets triggered somehow is a win. No better feeling than seeing people letting out all that they
have spent up inside.
14. What do you think of our site?
To be honest, we did not know your site before, but it looks like you are supporting bands in countries where
metal is not a major genre. And we appreciate that. We need more people like you to get all the great bands
and artists heard out there.
15. Something to add?
Thank you for reaching out and stay tuned.
