Interviews: The Heathen Scÿthe

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post Apocalyptic Pagan Metal band The Heathen Scÿthe from Brazil. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were looking for a name that could be used by a Metal band and by some kind of religious Cult or secret society. The scythe symbols the harvest, you reap what you sow, but there are many bands using "scythe" in their names, for this reason, and due to the deep relation with Nature religions presented in our lyrics we decided to add "The Heathen", and it sounds pretty cool! We added two dots above the Y to look different and more mysterious.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Metal is global! We can find people who love metal in every single country. Once our mission is to spread a global warning about the missteps Makind is taking toward their relationship with Nature itself, Metal is the most powerful way to achieve it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, everyone involved in this project has a huge background in the Brazilian metal scene. We were friends before, but never had the chance to work on a project together. When the concept came and the different mix of metal subgenres was added to the songs, everyone fell in love with it and decided to make it happen.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

There is a mix of influences, but everyone loves metal! Our goal is to sound like every metal subgenre and none of them at the same time and create something unique, that sounds pleasing to every metal fan, no matter which subgenre is their favorite. We are just metal. To go straight to the point, to write our songs we try to mix the sounds of Rammstein, Behemoth, Judas Priest, Savatage, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Five Finger Death Punch, and Disturbed with the theatrical performances of Ghost, Powerwolf, Rob Zombie, Kiss, King Diamond and Alice Cooper.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We're totally inspired by the themes we talk about in the lyrics. For this first 6 songs EP, where "Into the Fire" single came from, we decided to create a ritual of Ceremonial Magick, each Song is a piece of this ritual, and "Into the Fire" is a Sacrifice to the Fire Gods and Goddesses.

6. Where was your last gig?

We're starting our tour in November at Thorhammerfest in São Paulo, Brazil, the next gigs are still being booked.

7. Where would you like to act?

All over the world!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

For gigs, we would love to get on the road with absolutely everyone! As special guests, for our second album, we would love to count on the presence of Till Lindemann and Su-Metal. And it would be amazing to meet the Pope (from Ghost) on a stage, dressed like "the devil".

9. Whom not?

Criminals and people who don't like us.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

To get nervous before going on a stage is natural and can be seen as a good thing, once this anxiety disappears, it means you're no longer enjoying being there and playing your music. Everyone gets nervous, scared in front of a crowd, but as long as it not freezes you and makes you unable to perform, just get over it and kick everyone's asses!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Iron Maiden has a great and successful story and is probably a benchmark for every metal band.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I can't say it in public! Fans are insane but we'll never expose their oddities.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love every single one of them from the bottom of our hearts! All we do, it's for you guys!

14. What do you think of our site?

It's a great site, and I hope to talk to you many times, Thanks for inviting us to this interview.

15. Something to add?

Follow us on social media (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and listen to "Into the Fire" on your favorite streaming, we're deeply happy to have you there, and let's burn it up!
