Interviews: Hegeroth
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal band Hegeroth from Poland. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Bene: When looking for a name, we made the following assumptions: it has to sound good, and it has to be
unique so that a Google search does not return any results. This is how we came up with it: Hegeroth
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Bene: We grew up on melodic, fast, aggressive playing and that's how we stayed.
Bila: I think the musical otherness that was in metal and rock was interesting to me. Sometimes you
managed to get something from behind the Iron Curtain and you copied it a thousand times. I remember
my brother brought home a Master of Puppets cassette, and because there was still room at the end, he
added one Iron Maiden track:) This music was fresh, and very energetic, it drew me in straight away. After that
it flew, I wanted to go to concerts, have long hair, and play.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, Bila and I have been playing together since 3 previous bands: Mortifer (PL), Mohortum, HexHorn
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Bene: Immolation, Cannibal Corpse, Edge Of Sanity
Bila: Judas Priest, Metallica, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir,
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Bene: Just a guitar. Ideas don't come to me when I'm driving or when I'm walking. Ideas come when I play
the guitar. So I always try to have it on along with my computer ready to record.
Bila: I often think about riffs. When I have them in my head I whistle them, record them on my phone, and
then translate them to the guitar.
6. Where was your last gig?
Bene: Rock Iron Club (Poland) with In Twilight Embrace - February 2020 - just before the pandemic…
7. Where would you like to act?
Bene: Now we are a studio project, no live acting
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Bene: I would like to see some of our songs or riffs arranged by someone in a hardcore techno style or
whatever it is called.
9. Whom not?
Bene: I don't think I'd want to listen to our track arranged in a hip-hop style
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Bene: We didn't play concerts very often, but it seems to me that it's crucial to be decently trained and
learned. If you are well prepared then even in poor conditions after a while of playing you notice that it is okay
and you start to get energy from the audience
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Bene: Veterans of extreme metal like Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, Slayer and contemporary classical
music like Penderecki, Prokofiev
Bila: For me, definitely Judas Priest and Cradle of Filth. Also big bands like Glen Miller & His Orchestra as
well as progressive bands like Pink Floyd
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Bene: Nothing spectacular has happened yet. Maybe after this interview, something like that will happen?
13. What do you think of your fans?
Bene: The fans are giving us energy for which we sincerely thank you. It feels amazing to release a PRE-ORDER. Only one track and only the visuals of the album and T-shirts are available for now and people are
buying it. To be honest, it's endearing, thanks a lot!
14. What do you think of our site?
Bene: I would guess that you have to put in a huge amount of work and consistency to create a portal as
extensive and rich as Breathing The Core. You have some very interesting breakdowns, such as an
alphabetical list of bands, a list of bands by country, by genre, etc. I really like the Submit section for
playlists, it's just a pity I don't see black metal there... I'm going to start reading interviews by you today
15. Something to add?
Bene: Thanks for the invitation, and thanks for the hard work you do for Metal! It's great that you write about
both the newer and the more traditional kinds of metal!
