Interviews: A Light Divided
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock band A Light Divided from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Jaycee (vocals): The band name came from us sitting in the rehearsal space tossing around words and phrases we liked until we settled on “A Light Divided.” To me, the name is symbolic of the light and darkness in our lives and emotions while musically reflecting the ability to showcase both our heavier and softer sides
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
There’s an element of rawness and vulnerability you get in rock music that I’ve always been drawn to. Being able to thrash around wildly while singing at the top of my lungs is a form of healing like no other
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Adam (drummer) and I knew each other previously from a former band I was in and then we met Doug and Scott through playing shows and touring over the years
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Mine is A Day to Remember. I constantly annoy everyone in my life talking about how much I love that band. I feel like I’ve grown up with them through their music and it’s served as a roadmap for navigating my own journey in this industry. Adam would also say ADTR is his favorite, Scott would say Mayday Parade, and Doug’s favorite is Deftones
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I’m inspired by my personal life experiences and focusing lyrically on either a particular emotion, situation, or a lesson I’ve learned along the way.
6. Where was your last gig?
We’re currently on the Make it Rain tour across the East Coast in support of our new single “RAIN” and I’m currently sweating in the back of our van heading towards West Palm Beach, FL as we speak
7. Where would you like to act?
I think we would all agree that playing overseas is a huge bucket list goal for this and
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I would love to do a collab with Bring Me the Horizon or Falling in Reverse. I think both of those bands are incredible at pushing the envelope of what rock music is doing. Love them or hate them, I’d love to be around that kind of energy and learn how their brains work
9. Whom not?
A Day To Remember because I think I’d be too nervous and evaporate in their presence. (just kidding, please collab with me)
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I personally don’t have stage fright, but I do have social anxiety. Whenever I’m feeling particularly anxious, I just try to breathe through it and pretend like I’m home alone in my room singing into a hairbrush
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
I’m inspired by bands that are always evolving and not afraid to take risks. I think Bring Me the Horizon is a great example of that because every album feels different from the next. They truly just create whatever they’re inspired by in that moment and as a fan, it’s exciting to see what they’ll do next.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
It has to be a toss-up between the time someone asked to hold my feet or when a fan asked for my social security number. Like…what?
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think we’ve built a really great community of people who embrace what we do and I’m really grateful for everyone who has stuck with us through every era of this band
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s awesome! We appreciate you giving a voice to smaller independent artists
15. Something you'd like to add?
Thanks again for taking the time to get to know us outside of just our music. Stream our new single “RAIN” and check us out on all social media platforms @alightdivided to keep in touch and be a part of our army!
