Interviews: The Loners

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band The Loners from the UK. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Nath named the band as he always felt like a bit of a loner growing up. It just seemed to fit well with us all.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We fell into this genre. The band initially started off as an indie pop band, but when Mark joined, we started to experiment with different sounds. It became a little heavier, with some dance music, influence. We haven’t looked back, since!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Mark and Nath were at university together and always toyed with the idea of playing in a band together. Life took over, and although we have always remained friends, we weren’t able to start playing together until we were in our 30s. Nath and James met in a pub watching football and Nath mentioned he was looking for a drummer...the rest is history!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

At the moment...

Mark – The Hives

James – Foo Fighters

Nath – The Music

This will change next week! HA!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everything! Our songs are about love, politics, friendship, nights out, mental health, etc. I usually write a song when I am sitting on the couch, or at 3 a.m. lying in bed. I grab my phone and start typing the lyrics.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played at Party at the Palace, alongside The Happy Mondays and Shed Seven. That was awesome!

7. Where would you like to perform?

We would love to go East and travel around Asia. But I would also like to play some European festivals like Benicassim festival, Mad Cool and also Glastonbury.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I would love to play with The Strokes, Wolfmother, BRMC, The Hives, The Music, and in an ideal world, Led Zeppelin.

9. Whom not?

Scouting for girls!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, I think we all love playing live and performing. Tips for beginners – just get up on stage and play. Doesn’t matter if you screw up – just remember why you wanted to play live, in the first place!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Probably all the bands we said we wanted to play alongside. Nath is also a massive Stone Roses fan!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing weird so far...a bit boring, I’m afraid!

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are everything. You can’t beat playing a song and your fans singing the song back to you. Or writing lyrics and your fans associating those lyrics with something in their life. That’s a great feeling. We still would play, even if we didn’t have fans ...but people coming to see us is everything.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's good. We need more sites like this to be more mainstream. Do people still buy music magazines? I think having websites like yours, allows people to find and read about bands that aren’t in the charts or the mainstream charts, anyway!

15. Something to add?

Come see us play at the next gig and the drinks are on us! We have two shows in December, one in Paisley and the other in Glasgow. Also, please check us out on all the major social pages. Thanks!
