Interviews: Sierra Levesque

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Rock artist Sara Levasque from Canada. Check out this artist and follow him on his FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, Did you plan it or come out just like that?

My given name is “Sierra Elizabeth Levesque”, so I decided to just go with Sierra Levesque! It is hard to pronounce at first, but I just tell people to pretend that it’s spelled like “Leveck”, and I like it because it sounds different and unique.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I grew up listening to all of my dad’s favorite bands from the 70s and 80s like Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Ozzy, and Guns N’ Roses so I always knew that I wanted to sound like them! My music is heavily influenced by the classic rock sound mixed with newer modern pop influences as well.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

All of my music is completely self-written and self-recorded so it’s actually just me playing every instrument! I like to call it a “one-woman show”.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

My favorite band is Ghost.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life experiences and feeling lonely, angry, or sad usually inspire me to write my songs. I am also inspired by other music that I am listening to, so if I’m stuck listening to one artist or band for a longer period of time, my music will usually sound more like them. I like to take inspiration from many places and sounds to make sure that all of my songs are different in their own ways.

6. Where was your last gig?

My last show was at Overflow Brewing Co. in Ottawa, Ontario. I performed there on September 14th as part of my “GET OFF MY STAGE” mini tour.

7. Where would you like to act?

My fan base has really started to grow in the U.S., specifically in Los Angeles, California so I would love to perform there as many times as I can! I also seem to have a lot of Brazilian fans, so I’d love to perform in São Paulo someday.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It would be a dream come true to feature with Ghost, The Pretty Reckless, Heart, or Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal.

9. Whom not?

I think I would be open to any collaborations, especially in any genre like rap or even country because it would lead to new opportunities of finding fans who may not have heard my music before.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

The main time that I have stage fright is at a new venue when I’m unsure of what the audience’s reaction might be, but I usually feel perfectly fine as soon as I start singing. My tip would be to realize that everyone in the audience is there to support live music and you shouldn’t be afraid to give it your all, no matter who is watching.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Heart, The Pretty Reckless, Ghost, and Scorpions have inspired me most when it comes to writing and performing my own music. I would say that aspects of all of them can be heard in my songs.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I have one person online who keeps asking me to go to a thrift store and buy a leather mini-skirt to wear during my performances. Not sure why, but it’s definitely strange!

13. What do you think of your fans?

I absolutely love all of my fans and I truly appreciate any support that I receive! The music can’t thrive without the fans and supporters so I hope to give back to them as much as possible!

14. What do you think of our site?

I really like the variety of content that you have on the site. I went through a lot of the interviews and features, and I truly appreciate the number of artists and bands that you feature. Thank you for supporting musicians!

15. Something you'd like to add?

My debut song, “GET OFF MY STAGE” is now available on all platforms, so I would really appreciate if everyone could stream it! Also, you can find me on every social media platform under the username “Sierra Levesque Music”!
