Track By Tracks: CHAMELION - Legends & Lores (2023)
There's a solid 10-song concept album, with a story that begins right from the start and advances to the last one. Within this, you have many sides of what fantasy metal can be, from Renaissance music to baroque, from choir and classical parts to metal. All are flavored with a combination of nice melodies and song structures.
1. THE CONQUEST:
Epic filmscore intro to begin the album with an atmosphere to get you into the right mood. Choir & symphonic instruments lead the sonic world here. Lyrics tell that something bad is about to go down!
2. HERO’S TALE:
The first song after the intro is a faster one and tells what Chamelion is all about. Fast double bass, a guitar solo, a victorious chorus, and much more. A tale about our hero!
3. THE SHADOWLEADER:
This song tells a story about the villain of the album. Quite a loveable neoclassical tune. It has also some monster guitar sweeping!
4. FAITH AND STEEL:
After two faster songs, it's good to calm down a bit. Slower and thick symphonic main riff and a bombastic chorus. Tomi makes some incredible vocal lines in the end!
5. THE QUEST:
Continuing with a slower pace song, we have here quite a medieval tune. Our hero must make a quest to gain some leverage against the story's evil-doers! Let's see how it turns out - quite a victorious bridge and chorus by the way!
6. THE DEMONIC CREATURES OF THE NIGHT:
Time to get it faster after 2 slower songs. In this song, we have a duel between the guitar and keyboard, who wins... This song is most close to traditional power metal from our repertoire and of this album.
7. THE HAMMER OF THE GODS´ MIGHT:
Strong neoclassical influences here and also has some prog-influenced rhytmics. The song has an intro of its own. Jari really gets to shred in this one!
8. THE KEEPER OF THE HEART:
The ballad of the album. Here the hero of the story tells about his longing for his companion Chamelia
9. THE VALLEY OF THE KINGS:
As in the complete story, we are heading for epic conclusions. This is a piece with some Renaissance twist musically. Here the heroes & warriors acknowledge what destiny may lie ahead and they embrace it.
10. GLORIOUS DAWN:
Lastly, we have the album ending 10-minute song combining so many musical sides of the band and also wrapping up the story. This is also the fastest song of the album. Besides choir, guitar solo, and other regular parts of the band, here we have a spoken section too. The album begins with a minor key and ends with a major key!
