Interviews: Cosmic Jaguar

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Avant-Garde band Cosmic Jaguar from Ukraine. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Initially, we had a different band name. but then we accidentally came across Xavier Quijas Yxayotl who had a song called Cosmic Jaguar and we decided to use that name for the band. As my friend from Mexico said, we chose a very good and powerful name because it has a deep meaning for the indigenous people of Mexico! I think that the name of our band sounds very original, as a metal band!. In April 2022, I met my friend Denis and we tried to jam. As a result, thanks to my work, which didn't make it to the last Bestial Invasion album, we quickly created a track. Then I got Bestial Invasion's ex-guitarist Maestro on board, and we decided to record the music if possible, and in four months we created and recorded the whole album! Isn't it fantastic? That's how the band and the album were born in chaos and war!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because in this style we can best unleash our creative ideas and ambitions

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yeah, we knew each other, we played with Juan earlier in our other gurppa Bestial Invasion

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Atheist, Iron Maiden, Sadist.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We didn't have any preconceived ideas, it just happened by itself! Yes, we are fans of Atheist, Death, Pestilence, Cynic, and Celtic Frost, but we don't try to copy them on purpose, because we don't need to. Obviously, these bands have been in our DNA and subconscious for a long time, so you can hear their elements in our music! Our main goal is always to make unique and interesting music, so we sometimes use elements of folk that add to the atmosphere.

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven't had any live shows yet because of the war in the country

7. Where would you like to act?

In Mexico!

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

First with Cemican and Aztlan, and then with Iron Maiden, Raven, Atheist, and Cynic.

9. Whom not? 

With the Beatles.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that? 

We're experienced musicians and we don't have a problem with that.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Atheist, Death, Pestilence, Cynic, Celtic Frost

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Why don't girls like our music? 

13. What do you think of your fans?

They are mad maniacs who are ready to tear everyone apart for us like a jaguar does its prey.
