Interviews: Raven Tide

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal band Raven Tide from Italy. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

The name Raven Tide has been chosen to recall a specific visual atmosphere, a bland of dark goth and romantic shades. We were looking for a way to express the idea behind our project, a mix of powerful rhythmics from metal, electronic, and cinematic sounds, and captivating female vocals. All wrapped with a modern writing style.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all came to this project with different musical influences. The mix of all our tastes and visions took us to create our own "genre". We've always tried not to be tagged with a specific genre just because we think It would be limiting. Our songs are varied and very linked to emotions and the inspirations of the moment.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we all were part of a previous music project.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Cheryl, vocals: I love all 80's music, from rock to pop hits. Then, some inspiring bands from 90/2000' such as Evanescence, (of course ), Linkin' Park, Korn and Muse, and Lacuna Coil. I also adore some dark goth ambient music...

Mark, drum: Rock and Hard Rock from the '80s and '90s, Inspiring bands such as Red Hot, Guns 'n Roses, Metallica, Limp Bizkit

Shark: guitar & bass: My first music tastes were ''70s/'80s hard rock like Deep Purple and ACDC, now my favorite bands are Evanescence, Korn, Lacuna Coil, Linkin Park, Nightwish

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It depends on the moment and the emotions that we are living in a specific period. Sometimes all starts from a guitar riff or a piano theme and simply turns up in a new song adding everyone's parts to express a mood or a life situation.

6. Where was your last gig?

We came from a struggling period of stillness caused by the pandemic issues. Our last gigs have been our opening act for Evanescence Italian date in the Verona arena in Italy and our last tour dates in the USA at Viper Room in LA and Schecter Guitar Party at NAMM

7. Where would you like to act?

We've been touring through the USA's west coast and Nevada but we would like to hit the middle states and the East Coast too. We also have several fans in Latin America and we're planning to add some East European and Spanish acts too. Stages are never enough!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

There are so many great bands and artists to choose from. Everyone picked up from our inspiring band's list would be great

9. Whom not?

We think excluding a particular name or genre is never a deal. Music and art first of all a work of exchange of ideas, experiences, and creative energy. Everyone has something to teach and all of us should be always open and ready to learn from other worlds.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

We all are scared of being on stage, especially for the first time. With practice and deep self-confidence work, you learn to manage your emotions and insecurities. The bond and the harmony with bandmates are the keys to feeling good and free on stage together with professionalism, rehearsals, and dedication.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Evanescence, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We remember when after a live show at Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Strip some fans from Mexico asked us to throw away our beers just to offer us some new ones :D

13. What do you think of your fans?

Fans and supporters are the fuel that makes us going on, of course. The audience is the first reason why we create our music. The appreciation of our songs and the support we receive are essential. We love to keep a friendly and informal relationship with our supporters.

14. What do you think of our site?

We think you're really doing great. The site is really full of amazing content and a lot of new bands to discover. This is the best way to keep the music alive and give fresh air to the new projects! Thank you all!

15. Something to add?
