Interviews: Reconciler

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore/Punk Rock band Reconciler from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Reconciler means peacemaker. I always write about things I’m struggling with in one way or another and the band creates something new, and hopefully more positive, from those struggles. The three of us make a machine that turns bad feelings into good feelings. It’s a reconciler. I planned it. Derron hated it. He probably still does.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

This is just what comes out when we play together. If we tried to play another genre, it would probably still sound about the same.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We’ve all known each other for years from playing in different bands in the same scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Joseph: I can’t pick an all-time favorite band. I love so many bands and each one is a favorite for different times, places, and situations. My favorite band while I’m sitting here typing this? Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

Jay: The Hold Steady Derron: No comment. He is completely cloaked in mystery. (His favorite food is blue cotton candy though.)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Struggle, hope, growth, and the cacophony of solid-body electric guitars, overdriven tube amps, and drums hit with the intensity of cannon fire.

6. Where was your last gig?

Madison Square Garden maybe?

Or The Cave in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

7. Where would you like to act?

Spain and Italy are some of my favorite places in the world. We’ve never played in either and we’d love to.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Any cool band who wants to take us to Spain or Italy.

9. Whom not?

Lame posers who don’t want to play in Spain or Italy.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes of course! I don’t really enjoy being the center of attention, so it happens. I think the best ways to overcome it are to practice as much as humanly possible and to fully believe in what you are doing on the stage. Doing what you believe in and love will beat the fear.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Leatherface, Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker, The Hold Steady, Otis Redding, The Band, Neil Young, Against Me!, AC/DC

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We were asked to help destroy a broken car at a house show in Florida once. We politely declined, but they really seemed to enjoy smashing that car.

13. What do you think of your fans?

This band has helped us make amazing friends from all over the world!

14. What do you think of our site?

We appreciate you doing good work to amplify a lot of bands’ signals. Thank you!
