Interviews: Stray + The Wild

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band Stray + The Wild from the USA. Check out this band and follow them on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Stray + The Wild was actually a song first ( which we will release at some point) It’s about seeing life through the eyes of animals, or the eyes of the overlooked

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It just comes natural for us. There are a lot of bands and groups we like but ultimately it’s a collection of life experiences and music that made us what we are.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

AlexVndria met Alan through music and they hit it off and started casually writing together. Ginny was introduced through a friend but Alan knew the band she was with and her former band members so it was an easy intro. She’s such an amazing player too so we were excited to have her on board. We found Sam through an online ad after literally auditioning several hundred people. He was the only one who could handle the sound and had the chops to do it.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

AlexVndria: Radiohead, System Of A Down

Alan Damien: The Beatles, Radiohead, Alice In Chains

Ginny Eck: Styx, Siouxsie and the Banshees

Sam Ruff: Black Sabbath, Opeth

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Alan: I’ve been writing songs my whole life, it’s part of my DNA Movies, seeing different cities or countries, and working with others motivate me and pull me out of my comfort zone so I try harder. Also, I find that when I actually don’t play or if I take a trip my head is clear and I usually come up with good material.

6. Where would you like to Play?

Wembley Stadium, Madison Square Garden, The Tokyo Dome, Big festivals

7. Whom would you like to feature with?

We’d love to play with Radiohead, Poppy, Lana Del Rey, Danzig, Ghost, Black Sabbath, the Deftones Any big rock or alternative festival around the glove (I think we exist somewhere in between these places)

8. Whom not?

We’re open to anything that makes sense for the band

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

People’s first shows can be stressful because you hope that people like the band and you’re going to have to get situated with equipment and being comfortable outside your practice space. The best advice is to video your rehearsals and all of your shows. Watch them, listen to them. You’ll find things you need to fix, things you need to improve. From body movements to being cohesive in the clothes you wear. 10. What bands have inspired you the most? Honestly 1000s.. 60’s-70’s music, 90’s alternative, heavy music System of a down, Metallica, Judas Priest, We love bands that have stories attached to them. The Beatles,. Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Bowie, Johnny Cash etc.

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

This has been pretty reasonable so far

12. What do you think of your fans?

We feel really fortunate and grateful to have had such a good reception for our new song. We do this for us but we hope to keep putting out material that resonates with people.

13. What do you think of our site?

Your site looks amazing!! Thank you for reaching out to us, we think it’s awesome that you have this platform to help artists and introduce fans to new groups!
