Interviews: Tragic Forms

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Groove Metal/Thrash Metal/Metalcore band Tragic Forms from the USA. Check out the interview and this amazing band.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

Our drummer Taylor came up with the name. I thought it sounded cool and it was as simple as that. Naming bands are the worst shit anyway.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I grew up listening to all kinds of music but as soon as I got bit by the metal bug it was game over. Nothing else matches the intensity and technicality.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

For sure, we have been hanging out since our teenage days.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

For me, I was raised by Metallica and Pantera. Balls he would probably say Meshuggah and Deftones.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I get the inspiration just from listening to other music. The more varied the better otherwise you will just get stuck in the typical metal trope: verse, chorus, breakdown. As far as lyrics, I try to keep it more literal and daily experiences-type stuff. Psychological. I typically steer clear of the dragon battles and elves and swords.

6. Where was your last gig?

There are only 2 of us so this question doesn't apply to us but we would love to play live in the future.

7. Where would you like to act?

Dream venue I think would be anywhere outside of the studio. Maybe Rubber Gloves in Denton, TX.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Jeez there's too many, I always wanted to work with this other local DFW band called The Marla Singer. They can really shred and the chick that sings is a monster.

9. Whom not?

I would be open to working with almost anyone as long as it was a genuine creative experience.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

No, not really but I used to drink a lot of beer before going on stage although I wouldn't recommend that these days.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Metallica, Pantera, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Gojira, The Beatles, Meshugghah, Lamb Of God, Slipknot, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice In Chains, He Is Legend, Mastodon

12. What do you think of your fans?

I have great appreciation for anyone who takes the time to check out our stuff whether they dig it or not. There are millions of options out there so it means a lot to get a chance to enter someone's headspace.

13. What do you think of our site?

This is my first time (laughs)

14. Something to add?

If you dig what we do I would refer you over to our Bandcamp @tragicforms where we have a short run of vinyl for sale. Vinyl is something that's important to me as a hobby so I really wanted to do it for this record. It turned out great and sounds awesome and only 20 bucks.
