Interviews: Tusenårseken

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Black Metal band Tusenårseken from Sweden. Check out this interview with this band!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

I thought about a band name that would represent the band as a one-man entity and I thought this was a suitable name for it. It means "the thousand-year oak" and represents the solitude of making music on my own.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It´s a genre that is really wide and I´ve listened to black metal for a really long time (I think I heard it the first time when I was like five or something and it always has intrigued me. It´s also a really good forum for nice and sad melodies, reflection, and hatred.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Can one really know oneself? jokes aside, I am one guy doing all this, and thats the way I want it. Besides my brother (artist Daniel Karlsson) I haven´t found a lot of musicians that I can work with.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

My favorite bans are Burzum, Satanic Warmaster, Wulkanaz, Gnipahålan, and many more. I like the Swedish and Finnish scenes.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I don't know, I´ve always had music in my head in the form of mind-shatter and to get rid of that I have to make it happen, so to speak. I write all the time, to and from work, while I´m sleeping, etc. So I write a lot as you can imagine.

6. Where was your last gig?

A couple of years ago with a band that disbanded. gigs isn't really my thing.

7. Where would you like to act?

In cyberspace.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Azazel - the best live band in the world.

9. Whom not?

A lot of popular acts.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Why yes! just don´t care what people think, that is the secret. It comes with age I think. it's hard when you are younger. If you are a band that plays live a lot one messed-up gig isn't going to ruin your whole career.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands from other genres in fact -like Tool, Björk among others ...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Free stuff.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I don´t have many - but they have good taste in music!
