Interviews: Fallen Letters
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Metal/Rock/Goth/Shoegaze band Fallen Letters from India. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Ans: At its core, the name symbolizes the myriad emotions, stories, and experiences that often
remain unspoken or unwritten. Just as fallen leaves tell tales of changing seasons and fleeting
moments, the 'letters' in our name evoke the sentiments of souls that may have stumbled, but seek
to find their voice. It's a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, a celebration of
vulnerability, and a nod to all the unsung emotions that make us human.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Ans: We have been listening to and deeply appreciating a lot of music from the likes of Opeth,
Katatonia, Deftones, etc, and I suppose it was natural that what we composed would be loosely
related to this style of music, a sort of alternative rock/metal.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Ans: Vishal and I met each other in Engineering college and realized very soon we have similar
tastes in music. We’ve been composing and storing up many riffs and ideas for a long time and on re-visiting these ideas, we realized that we have a lot more melo and darker rock riffs and ideas. We
were also listening to a lot of Katatonia, Opeth Blackfiled; and Fallen Letters birthed out of the
confluence of these stored-up ideas and influences.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Ans: - Aditya: Metallica(all-time favourite), more recently maybe Opeth
Vishal: Katatonia
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Ans: Writing music has been a consequence of not enjoying playing/learning to play other songs
and I’ve slowly gravitated towards playing my own riffs and melodies. It has been a slow and gradual
process, but I believe this is a natural arc of a musician and perhaps both of us are in this phase of
our lives and we are completely enjoying it as of now!
6. Where was your last gig?
Ans: We just released our first single so live performances aren’t in our minds at the moment, but
we would love to perform live having said that!
7. Where would you like to act?
Ans: Aditya- The Royal Albert Hall would be a dream come true!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Ans: Aditya – Mikael Akerfeldt/Opeth for sure
Vishal: Steven Wilson / Jonas Renkse
9. Whom not?
Ans: Aditya – hahahah, I don’t hate any sort of music but featuring with an artist who does not
compose something along our lines would not make too much sense I suppose.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Ans: We’ve not performed live yet so I do not think we are in the position to answer this!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Ans: We are at heart metal-heads and started our musical journey with the greats such as Metallica
and Avenged Sevenfold. As time passed the likes of Katatonia, Opeth and the Scandinavian metal
scene in general were of great interest and admiration. The melo and dark element of the
Scandinavian scene has influenced us greatly.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Ans: Nothing weird yet!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Ans: We are eternally grateful and thankful for any kind of support that we receive! We would love
for people to completely immerse themselves in the overall sonic journey that is Fallen Letters.
14. What do you think of our site?
Ans: You have a truly wonderful and unique site that is a boon to the music community as a whole!
Honest reviews and great features always! We are very thankful for what you do!
15. Something to add?
Ans: Do follow us for the latest updates and song releases!
