Interviews: Good Time Locomotive

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Pop Rock band Good Time Locomotive from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

We were writing a song and I used that line. It really does sum up the positive, hopeful message behind our music. So it stuck...

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The unique emotional quality of the ideas is where it all starts. Once you hit the sweet spot it seems a crime for the music not to be out in the world.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew George (who is longer in the band) for a long time and kind of pulled him out of musical retirement so to speak. He has always had fantastic music but it needed a producer/co-writer imo. We met Hugo over lockdown online and wrote all the vocals for 13 songs during that time.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Me – Dire Straits (although the Beatles are obviously the GOAT) and for Hugo I think it would be something like Tame Impala. George would have been Limp Bizkit. We all love Don Broco!

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

It always starts with what the music inspires and the subject comes from that. The thing is, we have all had our own struggles so eventually it ends up being about somewthing personal to us in some way.

6. Where was your last gig?

St Albans around the start of 2023

7. Where would you like to perform?

Everywhere with people!

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Don Broco, The 1975, Coldplay. There are loads of great bands on a lower sphere than that as well though. Misery Kids, Emarosa.

9. Whom not?

ABBA...I know they are talented but their music makes me want to poke my eyes out with rusty spoons!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yep. Badly at one point until, counterintuitively, I decided not to care. Nobody is perfect so you will make mistakes. If people in the crowd want to turn their noses up at that then I don’t want them as fans anyway! Obviously, we will practice our arses off for shows, but stage fright comes from the idea that you must be perfect. Just enjoy the damn show!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

RATM for the stance they take in general. Don Broco for always striving to be original. Cake for the same reason. Dire Straits because they are just amazing....lots!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To sign her boobs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Obviously, they are awesome! Finding anyone who gets that same feeling from the song that you did when you wrote it is an amazing connection.

14. What do you think of our site?

Cool man.

15. Something to add?

What’s the motive? Good Times! Hop on board everyone! :)
