Interviews: I The Divided

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metalcore/Nu-Metal/Djent band I The Divided from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

“I, The Divided” came from feeling divided from the world. Everything that I was going through at the time of starting this project with Jed. A division of me against the world.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I love this genre and I feel it always helps send a strong message.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, Jed and I did know each other before as we formed a friendship while working together writing music previously.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Within the realm of heavy music, my favorite go-to band is Volumes. Jed grew up listening to Sepultura. I know Mike has been loving the new War of Ages record. Mel listens to literally everything. All of that helps create the music we’re trying to write and accomplish.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration is to help people who are going through hard times in life. To remind them that we all struggle, but not to give up. That there’s hope, there’s peace and, if you believe, there’s a God that can help you, too. I wanted to get this message across even if it starts off raw and aggressive because, at the end of the day, the world meets no one halfway. We must knock down that door and make our destiny.

6. Where was your last gig?

My own personal last gig was filling in for a friend’s band in southern-ish IL. Jed’s last gig was filling in on vocals for a hardcore band that opened for Buckcherry in South Florida. Right now, I The Divided is a studio project with creative goals in mind.

7. Where would you like to act?

I would love to play some festivals and enjoy sharing the stage with lots of bands, and who knows, even open up for Volumes for a few shows.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Myke Terry

9. Whom not?

I don’t know, honestly. There’s a lot of great musicians out there. This one’s hard to answer because I would share the stage with a lot of people.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright?

Oh yeah! Indianapolis Metal Fest with Emmure. I was dry-heaving and sweaty, LOL!! It ended up being okay, but I was definitely freaked out haha.

11. Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Have fun and enjoy the moment. Don’t let the outside naysayers get you down. Keep plugging away and never give up on your dreams, even if it means you have to do it part-time for a season.

12. What bands have inspired you the most?

Volumes, Hatebreed, Terror, Despised Icon, We Came As Romans, Suicide Silence.

13. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To me, a signature! It sounds silly, I know, but I don’t feel I’m at that level. So, when I was asked, I was unprepared and laughed and it was weird but also very cool.

14. What do you think of your fans?

Holy cow, I love our fans, they drive me to write more and keep me motivated!! I’m blessed to even have fans of this project.

15. What do you think of our site?

I think it’s great what you all do for bands and how you promote them. You all have been doing great things and I love it!!! Keep kicking butt!

16. Something to add?

Thank you all for taking the time to read this and we hope you all enjoy this as much as we enjoy sharing our music and stories with you. It’s been a long journey and I’ve been in quite a few projects to get to this point, and I love it! Stay blessed everyone, one love!
