Interviews: Infernal Devastation

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band Infernal Devastation from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?

It took us a long time to find a band name. At some point, we made a list of words that we liked and that fit well into a band name and then tried all possible combinations. Until we came across Infernal Devastation and agreed that this was it!

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Because this genre appeals to us the most, we didn't decide on it directly, it came up automatically during songwriting. 

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Let's start with the fact that Becker and Tobi have known each other since their youth and have made music together for various projects. Mattes, Becker, and Doreen got to know each other in 2010. Doreen was not singing at that time. But Mattes and Becker founded the band a little bit later. From the beginning, Tobi was the desired drummer, but he was already in 2 other bands and had no time for a third band. After many member changes and a long break from the band, Doreen started to shape her metal vocals in 2018 and brought the band back to life. In 2020 Tobi joined us, as he now had the time and desire to join us. And through our good friend Josh from Paranoiac we met Henrik in 2022, he joined us as a guitarist in the summer of 2023.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Doreen - Suffocation and Dying Fetus

Mattes - Pantera and Hypocrisy

Henrik - Vader

Becker - Archspire

Tobi - August Burns Red

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What we have experienced influences our songwriting. There are so many ups and downs in life, lessons learned, and always new experiences. We express that through our songwriting.

6. Where was your last gig?

At Klein Bonum in Herzebrock, the hometown of Tobi, Becker, and Mattes. At first sight, we didn't really fit into the lineup, except for us there was only Hardcore. But the audience was awesome, the place was packed at our gig and it was a lot of fun!

7. Where would you like to act?

We would love to play at Summerbreeze

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

With Hypocrisy it would be really cool!

9. Whom not?

Machine Gun Kelly haha. All kidding aside, anything outside the metal genre just wouldn't fit with us. That would not be a pleasant evening for fans either.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Doreen was super nervous before her first performance, practice practice practice and have faith in yourself.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Amon Amarth, Death, Children of Bodom, Arch Enemy, Hypocrisy, Pantera, and many others. Every band you like influences you in the end.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We have experienced many evenings where people have gone over the top. But it's all within reason. We are happy that we have not yet been asked by fans about strange things.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We are happy about everyone who likes our music and supports us!

14. What do you think of our site?

Your website is really good! Especially cool we find the posts behind the artwork, these people are too often not mentioned although many of them create masterpieces for bands!
